We bought the Evenflo harness booster for our 6 year old to use in my husbands car. He does drop offs occasionally. She’s on the smaller side so I would prefer in a harness than a regular booster. We bought it bc it’s cheap.

@looch: How wide does that seat measure at your pinch point? I just bought the Evenflo Big Kid which had the narrowest base I could find. If you want, I can measure it and see if it'll work for you. It's a pretty basic seat though, doesn't use latch or anything...

@Foodnerd81: I am so disappointed, the seat was a no go in our car, same issue as before, the base is just too wide to use the seat on the outboard position.

@Foodnerd81: I need it to be narrow on the seat, so that's what I am hoping it is. I should have it in the next day or two for my son to try. Will let you know.

@looch: it looks like the turbobooster lx might be two inches wider than the affix at its widest part in high back mode (the headrest I guess). But I am not actually sure. When you get it I’d be interested to know the widest part. I just ordered the affix and will measure too. CSFTL loves both and that’s where I got the widest part measurements. My seats aren’t super narrow or anything but I think I’m car pooling situations it might be nice to have a bit more space.

@Foodnerd81: I just ordered this Graco TurboBooster to try in my car with narrow seats.

If that doesn't work, I am going to try the Britax one. I am flaking out on the name...

@Foodnerd81: Ah, gotcha! You might look into the Graco Tranzitions seat then. It will harness to 65lbs and then you can secure with LATCH when in booster mode. It is also a fairly narrow seat.

@kiddosc: oh I was unclear- right I would use it as a harnessed seat for ether kid. But if I get a hbb only my older one can ride in it, which is fine.

I think you would have problems with trying to use a seat as a harnessed seat and a HBB seat at the same time. In my experience you have to pull out the belts when converting a seat from harness to booster modes, so it's not an easy switch.

I think you'd be good to go with the Graco Affix, it's really the only HBB seat with LATCH in your price range.

I’m getting a high back booster seat for our second car, for my 5 year old, 43 lb 45 inch daughter. It will be just for quick trips in dads car- she is harnessed in our britax frontier in my car.

1- is there an inexpensive ($75 or less) harness to booster seat that is easy to install and narrow? Having a harness would be nice since then little sis can also use it in a pinch, but I’m thinking unless it’s super easy to install, it’s not worth it. We already have two big, expensive, car seats in my car, which is where the kids ride 95% of the time.

2) assuming we go the high back booster route, recommendations for one that is narrow (so a smallish person could fit in the backseat along with the car seats), has Latch connectors so it isn’t a projectile and doesn’t shift around, and is fairly easy to move around or travel with in the future? I’m leaning towards the Graco Affix high back booster, but open to other ideas. Both kids are pretty short so I’m not worried about a high height limit.
