@KT326: @Mrsbells: @looch: @kiddosc: @bhbee: Thank you everyone! My daughter is tall for her age so I think she's ready for a booster. I will look into the Graco Turbo and Aflix that you all suggested. We drive a Sienna and she sits in the third row. I couldn't decide if high back or backless is better but good to know these options can do both!

I second @bhbee: suggestion to try them in your specific car. I think at 6, it's likely she'll be able to sit correctly without the extra reminder that the high back gives, but depending on her size, the belt may not fit correctly.

We just switched my 6 year old to a booster and opted for one without a back. If he doesn't sit all the way back against the seat and up straight then the shoulder belt doesn't fit quite right. The booster came with a belt positioning strap for the shoulder strap and I may start using that, but I sort of wish I would have gone with a high back booster.

Also consider the length of your typical car ride. We're nearly never in the car for more than 20 mins at a time, but if we routinely took longer trips I'd want a high back booster that he could rest his head against.

We have a Graco Affix. I like it because it has latch so that you don't have to fuss with buckling the seat in (to prevent it from becoming a projectile in a crash).

We have both and I would recommend trying it in your car. In dh’s sedan my taller 6yo only needs the bottom - the angle of the seatbelt is just right and the seat back supports her. In my car (which also has a third row with weird belt geometry) she needs a high back in both 2nd and 3rd rows for a good fit. She also spends a lot more time in my car and it’s nice to have the headrests of the high back.

ETA we have graco for bottom booster. For high back I need the evenflo big kid booster for my weird belts in third row. We also have a graco affix high back (can come apart also) which she says is her favorite.

@dolphin: we have a graco boosters that convert bothways so on occasion we have traveled and only taken the bottom piece to make it backless. But we normally use it as a highback

We have the graco turbo booster lx. It’s a high back booster but the back can also be taken off. We just recently took the back off at 6.5, DS is tall enough that he doesn’t need it to get the seat belt in the right position.

Currently my 6 year old is in the Britax Frontier. We want her little sister to start using that soon so we need to get her a new booster. Ideally I want one that is not as bulky as the Frontier. Which one do you have? Is it a high back or backless?
