Just saw your most recent reply - for what it's worth my "bed rest" was not stay in bed. It was don't do anything strenuous and relax. I still went up and down stairs, etc but took it very easy.

@ShootingStar: Just seeing this thread now and wanted to send you my well wishes! I was diagnosed with pregnancy induced hypertension around week 33. I came home from a very stressful business trip and just felt off. My blood pressure was through the roof and they sent me right to the L&D emergency room. They monitored me, did a NST, and I did my first 24 hour urine collection. I was borderline so I was set up on twice weekly NST and Dr appts. After my next Dr visit I was pulled out of work, but asked if I could have a few days to get things settled. They told me yes so I went in on Monday, told my boss that I would be out after that Thursday, went to my Dr appt that Monday afternoon and they sent me to the emergency room again where I was admitted for montioring for 24 hours. My urine test was again borderline so we continued on twice weekly Dr visits and NST. It became a running joke with me and my husband because every time I would go to see my Dr, I would end up in the emergency room. The last time I think I was 160/100 and they were ready to make the call and give me a c-section but while I was resting in the hospital my numbers came down. This was at 36 weeks. They told me they wanted her to get to 37 weeks but would take her out before then if it was safer for her outside the womb. They toyed with admitting me for the next week but knowing me as well as they did (that I would rest, keep appts, etc) they let me go home but I had to go into the office every day to be checked. They got me to 37 weeks and 1 day (only because 37 weeks was July 4th) and I had a c-section (DD was breech as well). We had a very healthy 8lb 12oz baby girl - who was 3 weeks early!! Yowzers!!

In my eyes, the good news is that you are at 36 weeks so you are close to the "magic" number of 37 weeks but from seeing other posts you can tell that some women make it much closer to their due date. Relax and rest and remove as much stress as you can. They are watching you closely, which is great.

@Shutterbug: Aww, that's sweet that you were thinking about us. I was just talking to Mrs. Bird about all of us getting together again a few days ago. Though DH may not let me leave the house now, lol.

Yes, luckily a real employee :). At a company with "unlimited" PTO so I have less stress around being gone for hours at the hospital. My boss has been awesome, I told her today what was going on and she was totally understanding. I have some important stuff it looks like I'll have to miss and she was just like "don't worry about it, we'll be fine without you." We have a 1:1 in half an hour, so I guess we'll work out the details of what needs to change. I'm not even sure how much I'm supposed to be staying home. But I REALLY don't want to be on bed rest, since my 4 floor house is not very conducive to that :-/.

So they let me leave, but I just barely made it out, apparently. I was told to start working part time, or working from home some of the time or I'd need to be put on bed rest. I also need to do another 24 hour urine collection next week before my next OB appointment on Thursday.

My blood work was fine, but blood pressure was considered borderline, and protein was high.

@sweetooth: Sitting at my NST now. BP is slightly elevated this morning @ 132/90 but I had a somewhat stressful morning. I forgot my collection jug and there was an accident on my highway, so it took almost 40 minutes to get back to my house and grab it (should've taken 5-10) :-/. Hopefully as I sit here and relax it'll go down.

I was put on bed rest when my BP was around 170/110 (yeah bad news) I spent the night in the hospital and then sent home for bed rest and that was at 33 weeks. I then went weekly for NST and Biophysicial ultrasounds and appointments. Did multiple 24hr urine catches. I never did develop Pre E but with the high Bp and GD we were induced and delivered at 37+2.

I had high blood pressure without pre-e. I was put on modified bed rest and had to drink A LOT of fluids/ eat a low sodium diet/ lay on my left side and monitor my blood pressure multiple times a day. We were able to keep it under control with those methods and had a healthy homebirth at 39w4d when I went into labor naturally.

I have had pregnancy induced hypertension with both of my pregnancies, but it never turned to pre e. With my first, I remember once I hit 35 weeks the doctor said that the bottom number hitting 100 was dangerous enough for me To get induced on the spot. I did multiple urine catches, and sometimes had elevated protein levels but never was declared preeclamptic. I was on modified bed rest for about 16 weeks, and then induced on my due date. While taking BP meds twice a day, my BP usually fluttered around 140/80. I think it was 160/85 before I took meds.
With this pregnancy I am on BP meds again, but it is staying lower than it did last time.

I had been getting bp readings in the 130/85 range for a few weeks. I went to L&D because I was having trouble breathing and my bp was 164/112 and rising so they induced me right then as there! Don't worry lady, being induced wasn't so bad! The magnesium was terrible but everything was fine. Stress can raise your bp ;)

i have high blood pressure all the time, so it was essentially pre-existing to my pregnancy but still had to be carefully monitored. i never got pre-e. I was on pregnancy-safe bp meds my whole pregnancy (and still am for breastfeeding). In my third tri, my bp got higher and my doc upped my meds a couple of times. i also had to go for several u/s to make sure growth was okay and i was induced which led to a c section.

@ShootingStar: I've heard the ones at the drugstores are notoriously inaccurate!

FWIW, I had high bp all through my pregnany, was on bed rest starting at 23 weeks and had steadily increasing protein levels in my 24 hr urine. I was hospitalized a 2nd time at 33 weeks and had an emergency c when my bp went up to 190/100 (or something in that ballpark) at 34 weeks.

I have my fingers crossed that everything checks out ok. There are so many variables in diagnosing pre-e so just trust on your doctors. Keep us updated!
