Yeah, if she's on her curve, what's the problem? Some babies are just meant to be small.

My 15 mo old is on the 10% weight curve, and has been there since 6 mo. My pedi said she is not concerned, but that if we want, we can add butter to foods, etc. She also suggested giving Carnation Instant Breakfast (have not done this yet). I guess that wouldn't apply to your LO at that age.. I give a lot of hard boiled eggs, add eggs to his oatmeal, and when I cook with meat I don't remove any of the fat for him. He also eats salmon enjoys butter on toast, etc. I do what I can, but I'm not too worried since he seems to just be a little guy. For you, I think you could cook your veggies, fruit in butter before you puree. That actually sounds really yummy :-)

I would think that if she's following the same growth curve for awhile and not dropping in percentile there wouldn't be a big cause for concern?

We do a lot of avocado, full fat Greek yogurt, and pancakes made with eggs, full fat cottage cheese, bananas and oats.

Eggs, butter, yogurt, coconut oil... I hope you find some sort of solution soon! I know it's hard not to stress.

Even though she is in the 9th percentile for weight, what is her percentile for height? If it's an even ratio then maybe she's doing ok and she's just growing according to her curve?

I was going to suggest mixing egg yolks with some of her purees as well... and butter goes great with carrots and other squashes - the butter/carrot combo actually helps with the absorption of vitamin A.

If your LO is ready, I know my friend fed her LO wholewheat bread fried in butter and cut in sticks to fatten him up :).

My LO (6 months) loves hard boiled egg yolks mixed with steamed/baked squash or sweet potato. I sometimes put in a teaspoon or so of water to make it a little more smooth. I am sure you could add a bit of melted butter instead of the water and that would taste so delish. Full fat Greek yoghurt mixed with some fruit puree is great, too!

@MungBean: Aw! Solids sometimes stress me out too! My LO was sick on and off for a month and half and lost some weight so I've been trying to think of high caloric/fattier foods as well. Have you tried giving yogurt or cottage cheese along with whatever your LO eats? Even though I am hesitant I let my LO snack on puffs to just get in some calories. And also, since I offer foods that I have made to my LO first, I also have back up of jarred/pouch food. My LO sometimes likes those better because they seem more flavorful. Good luck! I know it can be frustrating at times.

Can you feed babies fish? Salmon might work if you can. Also, eggs are supposed to be a healthy, high fat food (didn't know that before tonight!).

So L had another weight check today. She's put on about 10 OZ since her last visit 3 weeks ago and weighs 16 LBS. It's still the 9th percentile, though :( She hasn't moved up on the growth curve at all. I thought she was doing a lot better with eating (she eats 3-4 ounces per serving, three times daily), so I'm pretty bummed that we're not seeing any major growth.

Our ped again suggested high calorie foods, or adding oil/butter to her foods. How do you add oil to purees without making it taste weird? And what are some other fatty foods (besides avocados) that I could feed an 8.5 month old?

Solids stress me out. Seriously :(
