@Shutterbug: I had 27 antral follicles on my IUI cycle and there's no such thing in what I've read as too many. They call 19-30 normal.

I have PCOS and my antral follicle counts were always around 20 on each side. My RE never mentioned it as indicator of PCOS, she went off of my testosterone level and the fact that you could see the classic "string of pearls" cysts on my ovaries.

And don't get too upset if you have it, PCOS is not the end of the world when it comes to reproduction. I wasn't ovulating all, which I don't think is the case for you, right? And even then it only took me 4 medicated cycles to get a sticky (so far at 5 weeks!) baby. 2 of the cycles we conceived (first was CP), 1 I didn't respond (I have incredibly stubborn ovaries) and 1 I ovulated but didn't conceive.

I'm also pretty sure that if you need to go the IVF route, having lots of antral follicles is a good thing :).

@Shutterbug: I'm not a doctor but this is what my doctor told me. My LH was 18, my FSH was 5.9. He was unhappy that my LH was more than double my FSH I'm sure that's not helpful at all but maybe it's worth googling?

@Shutterbug: what were your LH and FSH numbers. Mine came back normal, but the ratio between the two said PCOS.

Hi @Shutterbug! I was wondering about these numbers as I just had mine checked last Thursday. My total was 23. I know she said they wanted to see at least 8-10, but she didn't mention what might be too high.

Would there be signs of PCOS from the sonogram?

I had my day 3 ultrasound today, and my AFC was 30. 16 follicles on my right ovary, 14 on my left. At first I was psyched, but is that TOO high? I know I should stay off google, but I read here http://www.advancedfertility.com/antralfollicles.htm that it could be a sign of PCOS? I did already get my LH, FSH, insulin, etc tested and everything came back normal.

Any bees with PCOS have their antral follicle counts?
