At that point, it was everyone's assumption that Jeb! or Rubio would be the nominee. Hillary Clinton was 100% on the money about Trump not being bought, and being able to get public support. And I assume her statements about women came from the fact that his businesses did have some women in very high positions. But presumably she didn't know the worse sides of his character until he did run. That doesn't surprise me either, not after I've seen people I've known and respected since I was born spout off incredibly racist things I won't even repeat here, excuse the idea of repressing the press, and get behind all kinds of vile statements of his as long as it won't affect them personally. Back in 2013, he was just a wealthy donor to her previous campaigns, so of course she would be complimentary, as I have been in situations where I was professionally called to do so to people who I personally may or may not have thought were objectionable.
