I wish they could still say positive things about each other. One of the reasons why I hate politics; I'd prefer to hear more about what each candidate can do vs. what the other one did/does/will do wrong.

That is really fascinating that the Donald she knew and thought highly of is not the Donald that we have today. He did not present himself in the flattering way HRC described. After reading what she said I would have thought Donald presented a concrete plan on the economy.

@Mrs D: completely indifferent. It's clear they both had different opinions of each other in the past, and for good reasons. For Hillary - as far as I know, he was either not making the type of comments he has been making this year when Hillary made the complimentary remarks about him, or if he WAS, (such as the "grab them by the pussy" type) she wasn't aware of them.

Would the following clip surprise you or change your opinions at all of either candidate? Probably not.

Totally indifferent. As others have said, they seem to have had a different view of each other pre-election and I'm not sure how well they really knew each other.

She was trying to shake up the GOP primary. At that point, it was everyone's assumption that Jeb! or Rubio would be the nominee. Boosting Trump would mean a more bruising primary fight for whichever of those two won, and therefore a tougher general election against Clinton.

@Mrs D: I'm not surprised at all. Hillary Clinton was 100% on the money about Trump not being bought, and being able to get public support. And I assume her statements about women came from the fact that his businesses did have some women in very high positions. But presumably she didn't know the worse sides of his character until he did run. That doesn't surprise me either, not after I've seen people I've known and respected since I was born spout off incredibly racist things I won't even repeat here, excuse the idea of repressing the press, and get behind all kinds of vile statements of his as long as it won't affect them personally. Sometimes you just don't know people till you've seen them in action.

Yeah, no. That's just life. You like someone, find out they're actually an a-hole, and take it back. He contributed money to her campaigns, so... They've both reversed positions on each other. It happens.

Well, since the worst of the leaked tapes of DT's honest views on women were not available in 2013, I'm not really surprised. Back in 2013, he was just a wealthy donor to her previous campaigns, so of course she would be complimentary, as I have been in situations where I was professionally called to do so to people who I personally may or may not have thought were objectionable. Meh :silly:

ETA: I have also been complimentary at times in my career (and personal life) to people I later found out were assholes. Doesn't mean someone shouldn't trust anything I say. . .

It's no secret they all used to be friendly. I think a lot of Trump's lesser appreciated qualities didn't come to light until after he started running.

@Mrs D: It seems to me they had very different opinions of each other before this election. There's that video of Donald Trump saying all of Bill Clinton's accusers are wrong and he's a stand up guy, and an interview he did just the year before the election where he said Hillary has done an amazing job as Secretary.

Not interested in arguing here - or discussing all the reasons HRC supporters dislike Trump...

Just interested in what people think about the 2013 speech leaked where HRC gave praise to Donald Trump and especially her comments towards the end of the article w/ regard to how he treats women...

Are you surprised? Disgusted? Indifferent?
