I didn't watch it regularly but after the first couple seasons it was just like PLEASE STOP LIKING ROBIN SHE DOESN'T LIKE YOU. So for it to end with him still trying to get with Robin just made me smack my head. I wish they had left the possibility of some chemistry between them if that was how it was going to end. </p> <p>And that's just so weird for two best friends to marry the same girl, so so weird. I wish Barney and Robin didn't get together if that's how it was going to end, they never made sense as a couple and just made the ending really awkward. We spent 9 seasons hearing bits and piece about her and then they kill her off in 5 seconds.</p> <p>not to mention that the whole season revolved around 1 weekend (which got really old really quickly), and then they broke up barney and robin (which made the whole season feel like a waste because there was a lot of non-mother stuff this season). </p> <p>also, i think that I would have been happier with the ending about ted and robin if robin hadn't tried to get ted to run away with her on her wedding day! I think the show just went on too long for that ending to be satisfying. It would be one thing if HIMYM only lasted 2-3 seasons and so he ended up with Robin in the end. Then we wouldn't have been so invested in this LONG journey to meet the mother AND we wouldn't have seen all the ups and many many MANY downs to Ted and Robin being together! I feel like that relationship was played out TO DEATH and so it just wasn't believable to me that they would STILL want to be together after all that! Plus, what was the Mother? Just Ted's consolation prize because Robin got married? And then the only reason they didn't get back together when Robin got divorced was because he had kids with the Mother? I don't know - I pretty much hated the whole thing.</p> <p>The only redeeming parts where that Lily &amp; Marshall pretty much had a happily ever after. And I loved when Barney met his daughter and how much he changed after that. Then they could have spaced out a little the mother's death and the Robin/Ted moment, and it would have felt less abrupt. I get that ted and the kids have grieved the mom for 6 years, but we got like 6 seconds and that was a little rough. Plus, all the jumping through the years was exhausting! i would've liked to live it a little more, making the episode just a little longer.</p> <p>But at the end of the day, it felt true to life for me...everything in life is about timing, and ted and robin never had their timing right until late in life, but that meant that Ted got to marry his perfect woman and have kids like he always wanted, and Robin got to pursue her career like she always wanted. I was mad that they broke Barney and Robin up just like that. I was mad they killed off the mother. I know that they'd been alluding to it, especially during the Vesuvius episode, but I was really convinced that they went to the Inn because they were awaiting test results that would ultimately end up with good news, not her dying. </p> <p>I really loved the scene of Barney and Ellie, though.
