Mine went back to normal 3 months pp. I think sometimes it's not that your hips widened, but that your weight redistributes on your body after a baby. My butt got smaller, it's weird. So if you have a couple of lbs to lose still that might be where the weight is living. I lost my last 7 pregnancy lbs through weight watchers and my pre preg clothes all fit by the time I went back to work at 14 weeks pp (and my jeans were still snug at 2 months, like you)

I'm not sure if my hips are wider but I think my butt may be a bit bigger. I fit into my pre-preg pants and was back into all of them by 5 mo pp or so, but some of them def feel tighter around the tush. ;)

I fit back in the same size jeans, but my hips were wider, if that makes any sense. The good thing about it is that my thighs have a harder time rubbing together than they did pre-baby :-)

Two months, pp, NO WAY. My shorts and pants were so tight across my hips and butt. I bought pants a size up to wear to work for awhile.

But 4.5 months pp, i can pull things up comfortably over my hips again. I even measured them recently....they're about 1" larger than they used to be and i still have ~8 lb to lose. But, i was always pretty narrow in the hip region.

@.twist.: I have/had wide hips pre-pregnancy anyway and was terrified of them getting wider! I DID use the ShrinkHipz and I don't think my hips are wider. I wasn't as religious with using the Belly Bandit, but the ShrinkHipz was pretty comfortable. I wish I had kept using it longer and more consistently though. Supposedly you could even shrink your hip size smaller than pre-pregnancy. I never measured though...

@tysonja: I'm sure it probably works! I have a friend who SWORE by sleeping in your tightest jeans every night. I guess it's the same effect as the belly bandit or shrink hipz. I tried it once though and I was dying of heat and being uncomfortable.

My hips got a lot wider. I actually stopped fitting in my pregnancy pants during the third trimester. I couldn't fit any of my pre pregnancy pants over my hips until a few weeks ago. Some still won't button easily (I use a hair tie to close some of them) but I think my hips shrunk a bit for that to happen.

My hips definitely got wider and have not gone back. Granted, I'm still up in weight, too so we'll see how everything shakes out once I lose that - but my body has changed. Pre-pregnancy I was very "boyish" built: A cup, very narrow hips. Now I'm a C cup and more "womanly" hips. I'm ok with the change for the most part.

@pregnantbee: Lol, don't be too envious friend! I think this second baby is going to be the end of my pre-preg shape as I knew it. I'm already up 10 lbs at 17 weeks and I just have this bad feeling I'm not going to bounce back so easily this time. :-(

Somehow my pants all fit me and I'm 1.5 months pp. however, I have seen a product similar to the belly bandit for your hips!

Mine are actually smaller now that pre-pregnancy! I know for sure because right before I got pregnant I took a bunch of measurements because I wanted to lose ten or fifteen pounds. I am now 8 months pp and have been really working to lose the weight. (mostly through healthy eating - semi-Paleo diet). I have been keeping track of my measurements so I can see my progress. I gained four inches on my hips during pregnancy and it took almost six months to lose them. Now I am almost two inches below my pre-pregnancy measurement. Just measured this morning and I am so excited about it! It can happen!

Im 10lbs lighter than pre-pregnancy and 22 months post partum and my pre-pregnancy pants STILL don't fit. My hips definitely widened and never went back. I'm a good 2" from my pants fitting, so I'm guessing another 5-10lbs should do the trick... But it really surprised me since my pants for comfortably when I was 10lbs heavier!

Mine returned to normal. I was back in all my skinny jeans, actually fitting a bit looser than they used to as I lost my butt (not that I had a big one, but it was toned and rounded...not so much anymore), by 5.5 months. I was buying skinny pants at Christmas (June baby) in a size smaller than I normally wore pre-preg so there is definitely hope your hips will go back.

I never bothered with anything like a belly bandit, dieting, or any other magic cure alls either. It just happened, although I did EBF, which I am sure helped.

i haven't tried this but have 2 close mom friends who swear by this... lol... be careful if you do try it though!! :)

they said that even after losing all the weight, their hips seemed wider than before and didn't fit over their jeans. they lied on their side on the floor and got their husband to gently sit on thier hips and apply pressure. flip and repeat. they both reported that when they did this soonish post partum that their jeans fit right away, after one try. one mom did this for both pregnancies/babies and it worked!

**totalllyyyyyy take this with a grain of salt and LOTS of caution. i can certainly think of a handful of reasons why people shouldn't try this, but your post reminded me of their 'tip'! :)
