@PixieStix: When my DD had bad diarrhea our pediatrician on call suggested putting Mylanta on a cotton swab and dabbing it on the rash/bottom area. It seemed to help with the burning and redness.
Hope he feels better soon!

We use these chewable pills. Our Ped recommended them when DD had a tummy bug and had non stop diarrhea. 2 pills the first day and then 1 a day.

@bhbee: I'll try again tomorrow. He's currently asleep.. hopefully the whole night!
@Beth24: I was thinking about calling the doc if it's still bad tomorrow. Never seen him with diarrhea like this.

@ustechie: thank you!

We have had luck with a double dose of probiotics and then regular doses in the days following ( per our Ped) and baking soda baths. My kids have never said the bath hurt with it in the water but I know a rash can make a bum so sore. And then just making sure the skin is completely dry before a new diaper. We never found a rash cream that really helped DS. I would just put it on liberally in hopes it would just keep the poop from burning his skin anymore.

We've had a lot of luck with a cream called Resinol. It's sold at the pharmacy, but you don't need a script. Our ped recommends it-works wonders!

It maybe worth it to call your pediatrician. My daughter had her first diaper rash at 2 and they suggested creams that I could buy at the drugstore. I had been using diaper rash cream for almost 2 weeks without much improvement and once I started using the creams her doctor suggested it cleared up within a few days (can't remember exactly what they were).

Maybe you can slowly coax into bath? Like start without bottom in and go slowly ... break out an extra toy or bubbles if you have it (and think it wouldn't bother him). I do think bath helps but overall sounds like you're doing all you can!

So my son started to have loose stools yesterday from either the curry chicken we ate, or he's getting the stomach flu that the rest of us got a week and a half/two weeks ago (my best guess anyways).

Now today he has been pooping a LOT (sometimes 2-3 times an hour). Over the course of the day it has gotten more watery, and now green. He has a pretty good sized rash that makes him scream every time we change him. I've been going back and forth between Desitin and Boudreaux's butt paste.

I tried doing a bath earlier but he screamed that it hurt when I poured warm water over his bottom. So I'm afraid to do any baking soda bath or much of anything because he keeps pooping and I'd hate to force him down in to the bathtub... but maybe I should?

I'm at a loss of what to do and afraid for sleep tonight, praying his body will stop having the runs.
