DH was going to visit his dad a few provinces over and I was doing the flight shopping for him. For kicks, I thought I'd look on Expedia for flight &amp; hotel bundle (in case it wasn't too much more and DH could sleep there instead of on a couch). </p> <p>It turned out it was $50 cheaper to book with the hotel for some reason. The last couple of times we saved nearly 1k in airfares by booking 1 or 2 nights at a hotel that we may or may not use. We took a trip a few weeks ago and bought tickets (actually, a package deal) 3 days before we left. Last year we also did a trip where we bought tickets 3 days before we left. For the most recent trip, we got a great deal.
