My friend did. It was at the end of her pregnancy, and it covered her body. She had to quit work. It was a side effect of being pregnant. Her dr told her what to take and how to help handle it, but that it wouldn't go away until after the baby was born.

@crash806: I scratched myself so bad in my sleep a couple nights ago that I actually was bleeding :(

Eucerin actually makes a special cream for eczema that I use, as well as taken luke warm oatmeal baths by Aveeno. Those have both helped me quite a bit.

i say switch one thing at a time, to see if you can narrow it down. i was taking a lot of different pills and narrowed it down with the medrol.

I had them pop up as an allergic reaction a lot when I was younger, but not with pregnancy...yet. But I always got them all over, not just in one specific area.

I will say though that just because your habits haven't changed, doesn't mean it's not an environmental or food factor. Your body chemistry can really change during and after pregnancy and you may newly react to something that you haven't in the past. If it's really making you crazy, it might be worth still trying to switch up some things like detergents, soaps, lotions, foods you frequently eat, etc.

@junebugmama: Yeah, got biopsied at my Derm's last month. She said it came back as a hypersensitivity/hives. But made no mention of eczema, but looking up Dr.Google has me wondering...the symptoms look very much the same. What did you do for the itchiness? I was on a rx steriodal cream for awhile and now I just take Claritin and fight the urge to itch..which I lose on a nightly basis when Im asleep :(

The frustrating thing about hives are that no one knows definitively what causes them. It can simply be stress. I got really bad hives after I gave birth and my OB said that there's a theory (unproven) that it's a side affect of giving birth, that maybe some of babies fluids/proteins was left in my body and that my body was attacking it like as a foreign substance. Not convinced that was the case but I couldn't pinpoint it to anything I was eating, using, or exposed to either. The hives lasted 3 months and just went away one day.

BTW, in case this continues past delivery - don't take benedryl for the hives cause it'll decrease your milk supply (learned the hard way).

Did someone verify that it's hives? My eczema has popped up on my legs, which I've never had before. It's awful.

I know isn't it? There has been nothing new in my routine in years, I'm quite a creature of habit! I've been using all the same products since before getting pregnant.

I see my OB on Friday, let's see if they can figure it out, as I've already stumped my Dermatologist.

I stopped taking my DHA supplements about a month ago and I"ve been taking the same prenatal since before getting pregnant. And those are the only medications I have been on since being pregnant, well now I need to take a claritin for the itchiness. It's driving me insane!

i had hives for a bit when i was taking medrol (infertility treatment). are you taking dha? maybe stop the dha pills (if applicable) for a few days to see if that helps? it sounds like something you're ingesting. or like @mrsmcgyro stated - your prenatals?

I get hives from a lot of prescriptions as well, so I feel your pain! I've heard that some women can have allergic reactions to their prenatal vitamin though, so you might want to check that out.

So I have been on a consistent hives breakout on my legs since week 10(ish) of pregnancy, I am now 23 weeks. It is so freakin itchy and for the life of me I can not figure out what I am allergic to, I have gone to the dermatologist and have appt set up with my allergist. I've read that it can be a symptom of pregnancy...anyone else just randomly break out?
