@ladybee: my daughter is 20 months old and at 7 months old had an anaphylactic reaction to dairy (yogurt). She has seven food allergies and most all she has contact reactions with. If my husband forgets to wash his hands and/or mouth after eating dairy and then kissing her she gets hives for example.

With new foods our allergist told us to dab a tiny amount on her skin and see if she has a contact reaction.

Did you wipe your LO hand and then wipe their face? It could be cross contamination. How old is LO?

Did you happen to wipe lo's face with the wipe? Because my lo gets these hive/pimple looking things from wipes touching her face, which I've heard is pretty common because the skin on faces is just more sensitive than that on bottoms, where wipes are supposed to go. Maybe that could have contributed? I know it sounds like a long shot..

@ladybee: no...she has had cheese and yogurt without issues. The whole milk switch has been going alright as well so I think she's going to be fine.

@swedishfish: Thanks for the hope! I'm sure he ate some and that was his only reaction where months ago he would have thrown up. Have you seen an allergist? I am itching to see one so we can get answers but I know they like you to wait to a year.

Not necessarily. It definitely means that right now he has a sensitivity to dairy. R used to get hives but we are in the process of switching her to whole milk and she's been great so far!

LO, DH, and I were at Target. I went to Starbucks with LO and got a sample frap. He stuck in hand in the whip cream and knowing that he had a milk issue as a baby I hurried up and wiped his hand with a baby wipe. Well I'm not sure if he got some in his mouth or just the touch of his skin irritated him but next thing I know his face is covered in hives. It happened so fast! I washed his hands and face and gave him Benadryl which cleared them up within 30 minutes.

I so desperately wanted him to grown out of this milk issue. Do you think the hives mean he is allergic to milk?
