@sunny: I wish anyone in my family was the same as me. They are all neat freaks!,

@Silva: Good memory. My anxiety is no better, I just avoid everything that does give me anxiety or that I think might give me anxiety. Basically avoiding it :/

@Mrs. Jacks: I know, I know! Everything is so cute though!

@Honeybee: No way! Oh man he would trash all my treasures! Just thinking of that makes me ill. But then again he does have a couple things from when he was a teenager. Idk, I think I just need a bigger house.

@mrs. bird: The people will put it to good use... Or I'll just buy it back. I live at my thrift store. I kind of do what you do sometimes. I like will leave a box of random husband stuff when I'm cleaning that my husband is supposed to go through and see if he wants to keep. Ya he hasn't gone through the one this week yet so hopefully he doesn't pigsty everything up.

@Honeybee: DH & I do that! I get the first sweep, I go through and organize all the things that I need to keep (the stuff I would bite his head off for touching) and then when I get overwhelmed with the random homeless leftover items, DH goes through and purges most of them because I can't do it. Then I come back and do the finishing touches to arrange things how I want them. He's better at getting rid of my stuff because he doesn't have the same feelings.

I have an irrational feeling that if it isn't perfect- ie organized by color, alphabetical order, by size, etc, that it isn't worth doing, it's perfect or a pigsty. Which has led to many pigsties! Good for you getting rid of so much, I'm sure the people receiving it will put it all to good use!

Do you trust your husband to help you get rid of some things? My husband has always been a lot more sentimental about things than I am, so we work together to clean things up/out. :)

I actually worked with people who hoard in the past....we used to joke that it isn't a problem if you have a big enough house. BUT, I will say that I consider it to be a symptom of anxiety (and I believe it is classified in the new DSM as such), and that makes me think you might want to address the underlying issues. Not saying you are a full on "hoarder" or whatever, but if having lots of things makes you feel soothed or more in control, and getting rid of things makes you feel anxious, its an indication to me that something else is going on.
I know you have talked about issues with anxiety before- I hope you are managing it during your pregnancy. I was an anxious mess during mine!

I have a hard time getting rid of stuff too. I've wondered if its a learned behavior or if I'm genetically predisposed to it... my parents and my Aunts & Uncles all have the same issues!

I went through my closet earlier this year and it pained me to put each and every item into the donation box.

@anonysquire: I have major hoarding tendencies and would probably be worse if we lived in a more spacious house. I am recently getting better at purging items that are not being used or worn because we just don't have room for my hoarder tendencies. I had to make room for baby's items and it felt really good afterwards to give away so many stuff. 10 bags is a great start! Good job!

I figure as long as your house is clean and you don't feel cramped, it's fine?

I've always had the opposite problem, I get rid of something, then need it a few months later o_o

I'm putting this in health because hoarding is a psychological problem. Whatevs.

So today I have been nesting the crap out of everything. I'm going through my closet, drawers, baby's room, baby's dresser, and baby closet.... Fast forward like 4 hours later and I have filled 10 garbage bags of stuff to donate to my thrift store. But my closet is still jam packed, my dresser is stuffed to the brim and in the baby's room there are 5 suitcases filled with baby clothes and the dresser and closet. And I can't get rid of anymore. It already pains me to be getting rid of the 10 bags and they may or may not make it to the thrift store. I've always been like this I guess. If my house is clean it's not a problem right? I can't get rid of anything!!! Anyone else feel like this?
