Pediatrician we saw yesterday said RSV but didn't feel the need to swab. She said continue breathing treatments and push fluids. Of course, he woke up at 3:30 today with a temp of 102.8. Blah.

@ladybee: I'm not a fan of baby Vicks because it absorbs into their sensitive skin. It is not designed for cough/cold- only for soothing. You can try it, but I don't know it will help much.

@wonderstruck: so frustrating. I haven't tried Vicks but I will. He seems better overall today and then all of a sudden he has a coughing fit that's horrible.

@Mrs Green Grass: did you LO have a fever? He's been running warm (100ish) but nothing horrible. We just finished a wake up but he's done pretty well with sleep. He's just miserable.

I was thinking pertussis too. LO and I both had it and it was really scary. But also easily treatable with antibiotics. I hope you figure it out!

@ladybee: Have you tried Baby Vicks on his feet with socks over it? That gives my DS some relief. We've been going through bouts of bronchiolitis too and this is something that has been happening with it. Sometimes his hands and feet even turn blue, but I was told by two doctors that there isn't much that can be done but to wait it out, and that while it looks really scary unless his face/mouth is blue it's not something to be really worried about.

@ladybee: sounds awful. I'm afraid there is not too much more that we can do for little ones' coughs. Elevate the head of the bed and cool misty air, suction their nose and see if that helps.

@Mrs. Jacks: Ok he's miserable. He can't stop coughing while trying to sleep and he cries out after each coughing jag. Anything I can do to make him more comfortable? We have been giving motrin, he has a humidifier, and we are pushing liquids. This makes me so sad. :(

Please know, I am a worrier. :)

M is 16 months old. For about a week has had a cough and watery, clear runny nose. Mood has been decent and sleep has been okay.

My worry is the cough. He has a coughing fit probably 3-4 times in a minute. While he coughing, he will hold his breath and turn dark, dark, red and his eyes water. Almost like he's trying to poop but he's doing it all the time the last two days and is pooping normally. Thoughts?

History: he had RSV before 3 months old, has had bronchlioitis a few times last winter, and he pneumonia this winter. We have a breathing treatment machine at home and have been using that. Also have been giving motrin.
