@Ms.Badger: I think you're right...people don't need that many varieties of bread.

I thought about having two hot veggies- one green and then candied yams, but that may compete with dessert. My mom makes one dessert really well- sweet potato pie- and she'll be hurt if I ask her not to bring one.

That’s a feast all right! I think the menu looks great. If I saw “feast” on an invite, I would expect a lot of options. I wouldn’t necessarily expect full entrees like full hams/turkeys or full trays of mac and cheese, etc. I wouldn’t be surprised if I found a lot of heavy appetizers (hot and cold), for example, to nibble off of all evening. So, I think “feast” is pretty open-ended - - as long as you provide a lot of food.

I think that looks great. I personally would make 2 hot veggies (both brussel sprouts and green beans) and add a straight green salad. I'd make only 3 starches (either both mashed pototoes and mac and cheese and 1 "roll" or mashed potatoes or mac and cheese and 2 "rolls"). Definitely looks like a feast to me!

ETA: I'd also probably add a soup because I love soup!

My tentative menu...I am trying out different entrees recipes and hot veggie recipes and perfecting my dirty rice.

Honeybaked Ham
Pot Roast w/ onions & carrots OR Braised short ribs
Baked Mac & Cheese
Mashed Potatoes (I mix in sautéed mushrooms &onions) OR (and) Dirty Rice
Buttery Garlic Brussel Sprouts OR Stewed String Beans OR Green Bean Caserole
Pear salad- mixed greens, pears, pomegranate, pepita seeds, brie or gorgonzola (I have to make sure the pepita are not considered nuts- guest food allergy)
Cheddar chive biscuits (Red Lobster box)
Corn muffins w/ jalapeños baked in, but honey butter drizzled on top
Dinner roll knots

I shared my menu with my dad and he said it was too much, I just want there to be something for everyone.

If you're invited to an early evening event at someone's home and the invite stated a feast, how much variety and what kinds of food would you expect to have?

The party will take place between Thanksgiving & Christmas.
