I gift current teachers only, as others have stated.

However, with K - she started in January, and moved out of the newborn room in September. As such, I never had a Christmas with the newborn teachers who all had a very special place in my heart. I wanted to show my appreciation and gratitude for them so I gave them each thank you gifts as K graduated up to toddler 1.

I give a gift card to the school, bring a tray of goodies for all the staff, and give small gifts and cards to her actual teachers.
There are six teachers that work in her classroom throughout the week and no main teacher. Plus two floaters, admin folk, and kitchen staff. I like to cover everyone because they are all a part of her day.

So this is not helpful at this point but what I would have done is give a small thank you gift to the teachers as they left, and then at Christmas just gift the teachers who teach his room. I think that nobody will be offended either way, and Ms P and Ms A will get gifts from the kids in their current class, so you'd be fine to just do the teachers who are actually in the room.

@JLC53: In the end it comes down to how you really feel about it. We usually give a bigger gift to the current teachers and then a smaller gift to any other teacher that we feel deserves it

I only gift her current teachers, and only the lead/assistant that's on paper; I don't even drop off/pick up so I have no idea who floats in and out!

Current teachers only.

However, I think Ms P sounds sweet and was there from May - September (5 months)? So if you wanted to do something smaller for her and Ms. A and Ms S I think thats fine.

I usually only give gifts to the current teachers. Any floaters are excluded from the list. I have a bit of a weird situation in that DS2 is transitioning from the infant room up to the pre-toddler room this week. So the teachers that cared for him for so long are no longer going to be his teachers as of Christmas. I'm going to get something for them anyway since they cared for him for most of his first year there. I'll also be getting something small for his new teachers in the pre-toddler room. All of the things I get are Amazon gift cards for the teachers.

I only do a gift for my kids' MAIN teacher, not the floaters and helpers. So in A's infant room, there are 3 main teachers, plus a floater or 2. I am giving a gift to HER 1 main teacher, and then might do a box of donuts or cookies to the classroom. D is 3 and his pre-school teacher quit out of nowhere 2 weeks before Thanksgiving (like, left for lunch on Friday and never came back). Since then he's been shuffling around other classrooms until they come up with a more permanent solution, so none of his teachers will be getting gifts this year.

If you're not close enough with the former teachers to pick out a personal gift, I'd gift the current teachers only. If your little one were big enough to make a card, I'd say do that.

I only have to the current head teachers in my sons room, mainly because I didn't know who else worked in the room as they all seemed to rotate so frequently. I gave them each a $25 target gift card in a coffee mug and they loved it.

I just give gifts to my kids' CURRENT teachers. Previous teachers will get gifts from their current students, so I don't feel obligated to gift everyone that has ever cared for my kids during the year.

For the infant room, there was a mix of three teachers, so I'd give them all equal gifts. For Preschool, there's a main teacher and an assistant, so I give the main teacher a little more.

I only gift to the teachers that are in their classroom on the day I give out gifts, so for example Dec 22nd.

Teachers come and go and there are floaters and I don't have the $$ to gift them all.

Hi All!

I'm a first time mom with our first Holiday around the corner for gift giving to our daycare teachers and I have been following all the treads on here about what to get the teachers. My husband and I decided that we are going to give cash, as I don't know them well enough to give personalized gifts of any kind.

Here is my dilemma. Hopefully you can follow along.

When my son first started in May he had 2 main head room teachers, Ms. B and Ms. P, and 1 part-time teacher, Ms. N (of course others filled in for vacations, etc..), but basically 3 teachers/caregivers. In September one of the main teachers (that was there for 18 years in the infant room - just couldn't physically handle infants anymore), Ms. P, and moved to another older room at the daycare, but is still there and does fill in every now and again. Another teacher from the older room came into the infant room, Ms. A. Starting September we now again have 2 main teachers, Ms B. and Ms. A, and the same part time teacher Ms. N. We were told that the school is interviewing a replacement for Ms. P and will let us know. Now in late October, we were notified that a new teacher was hired for the infant room, Ms. S and told that Ms. A will stay in the room until Ms. S is fully trained that then Ms. A will move back to her old room starting December 1st. So at one point we had 4 teachers, 3 fulltime Ms B, Ms. A, Ms. S, and 1 part time Ms. N. Now Ms A. is no longer in the room and it is 2 full time, Ms. B, Ms. S, 1 and part time teacher Ms. N.

I have no idea what to do for gift amounts... Do I give everyone a cash gift? Ms. B, Ms. P, Ms. A, Ms. S, and Ms. N??? Do I give them all the same amount? Obviously Ms B. and Ms. N were there the entire time, but the other 3 were not...

I will also be bringing in a platter of cookies for the teachers all to share in the kitchenette...
