@carrie - I am sorry illness is going to impead your holidays, however, it is important to enjoy the time that you do have together and just cherish it. Thoughts are with you and your families to a swift recovery.

@mediagirl - hahaha seriously I saw some news stories about black friday and people are nuts!

@stbhismrs - sometimes I feel like so much gets lost in translation. I hope you enjoy your small holiday at your house which is free of chaos =) and your dad has a quick recovery to the knee replacement. My uncle recently opted to have dual knee replacement (at the same time) it's a tough road but his knees are so much better now so hope your father has the same results

it's just interesting to see the dynamics change as the holidays approach

This year yes. My Grandma is having a tissy fit because we aren't having our normal Christmas get together. My Dad is having knee replacement surgery on the 19th and will be in the hospital until Friday. There just isn't time!!! We're doing something small at our house and that made her mad. Love the Holidays....

I think crazy comes out on Black Friday and never goes back!! Thankfully we don't have much of it in my family because we are far away from our extended family. I enjoy as little drama as possible!

Always. I'm trying to remain stress free throughout it. I just need to get gifts organized, knit, and wrapped. I'm taking a few home with me when I visit my dad for a concert on Thursday night, then the rest of the weekend.

Right now, it's illness central for my family and extended families. My brother had surgery recently while his FIL is suffering from GI problems. Last week, my father in law fainted, fell, and hit his head on a cedar chest resulting in 80 stitches. Our visit there for Christmas is on hold until my MIL's birthday in January.

Phew it is 12 days away from Christmas and I am pretty sure that our family Christmas is already ruined by ridiculous drama [happy to say it is a spectator sport for this kid]!!! I would go into further detail however it will actually just make my blood pressure rise.

Has anyone else noticed the crazy come out in people as the holidays approach?! Do you struggle to get through the holidays or is it all blissful for you?
