@snowjewelz yea not just bleeding gums but waking up with blood-encrusted gums too! The worst! Amazingly DD hasn't complained at all. Just a bloody/scabby smile every morning. Gulp. Our ped was not very helpful so thankfully I got her into see the dentist at the last minute. She said just like in adults 7-10 days is normal. This is day 8 and still bleeding :( I'm hoping it's gone by Thanksgiving.

My DD just got diagnosed with oral herpes (the virus that causes cold sores) and it sounds sort of similar. I had no idea kids could get it and it did not manifest itself as cold sores but instead her gums were super swollen and bleeding plus little white sores on the tongue and gums. Ugh one more thing to deal with! Poor kiddo!

Yeah check her mouth and throat - my son was exactly like this at 23 months and he got HFM disease. Or check her hands and feet for spots.

@Pumpkin Pie: Look in her mouth, if she will let you. We have the best luck when she's laying down or brushing her teeth. brushing her teeth the other night is how I determined my 2 year old is still pushing her last molar through. They have two sets (12 and 24 month)

I don't think my 26 year old has had her 2 year molars yet. I'm scared of whats to come. How can I tell if she has them or not?

@snowjewelz: I didn't know you were already 8 months along. When are you due?

Just another thought. Have you tried warm liquids? We just had a peds nurse tell us last week that sometimes warm things are more soothing to a sore throat than cold items. My girls won't do soup/broth type things and prefer all forms of drink ice cold :(

Sounds hard. I'm not sure what I'll do when I get to the hard teeth! So far mine has 10 at 13 months.

Would a treat like ice cream cheer her up and get her to eat at the same time?! She could either lick or eat with a spoon or have a milkshake depending on wants and if you are cool with that of course. :). Just thinking of things that would make me happy in that position and would also be getting some calories into your kid. Hope it's over soon!

So DD (23 months) have never ever been bothered by teething before... Until I'm guessing these very last set of 2 year molars! I didn't even know they're not out yet.

She started having a low grade fever Fri night, so I just thought she was coming up with something. By Sat mid-day, she was refusing to eat, really cranky, etc and told me her teeth hurt. Sat night sleep was a mess; woke up every hour crying and crying. Meds aren't doing much. Sunday pretty much refused to eat/drink, cranky/crying all day. I don't think I've ever seen her this upset, not even with coxsackie!

We finally got her to drink from a cup (she drank from a straw which hurt more then refused all drinks). Still couldn't get her to eat. We're on I think day 3 of this now, so I'm hoping it will pass soon.. Her mood is slightly better today. Please Lord let her be better!!

This is just totally out of the blue. We're SO exhausted, esp since I'm 8 months pregnant!

Rant over  :crying:
