@kiddosc: @mewtill: she's breastfed and typically won't settle in the night without boobage but yes, otherwise, giving DH a night of baby duty would help him understand.

@scg00387: Thank you so much

At home we had a bed rail for the longest time (now he is 2 and we don't have that issue). When we traveled, he sleeps with us typically in the middle. The last hotel we were at, I put him in one bed with a book (wide awake) and he squirms and he fell out of the bed onto the nightstand. That was a nasty bruise. It happens.

We just went on vacation and had our son (9 months) in bed with us. We've co-slept since he was born and generally have him in the middle, but I put him on the "outside" with the co-sleeper pushed up against the bed. Well, he rolled, the co-sleeper slid away on the wooden floor, and he fell face-down on the floor. I was horrified and felt terrible! Luckily, he had no bruises or bumps and barely cried at all. My husband was like "keep him in the middle, duh!!"

I don't understand why you have to be the one to deal with middle of the night wake ups. If he doesn't want the solution of her in the bed, he should be the one to try out an alternative!

ETA: yes, get a mesh railing!

My 2.5 year old feel out of the bed for the first time ever this past Monday night, never in my life have I run so fast. I don't even think he woke up, he cried, and then was asleep in a second.

What about a travel bed rail, they're mesh.

Yikes :( So glad that nothing happened, I'm sure it was a fluke! I have zero advice. Over Easter I couldn't get LO to sleep in a pack and play for naps so I had to sit and physically watch him while he slept on the bed. We visit family frequently, so that was a big part of why I started working on his sleep - he was too heavy to get into the bottom of a travel crib without waking him! Hope it turns out better than you expect

@travelgirl1: I agree that maybe at home you should work on getting her to sleep consistently in her bed, but when you travel, all bets are off. We never cosleep, except when we're traveling because sometimes that's ALL that will work.

I've had luck in the past with waking DH up every time E woke up in a night so that he really understands what a typical night could be like for me. I think your DH needs a cold dose of reality!

@T.H.O.U.: he's scared he'll roll on her. I'm so gutted this morning happened, obviously because she could have gotten hurt but also because he saw it and now he's got a solid argument. But I know she won't sleep in a travel crib and I'm the one who will have to get up and deal with that, not him. Ugh.

@travelgirl1: I agree, when we travel, she sleeps MUCH better with us then in a PNP.

I think this morning was just a fluke. She didnt' fall and she's not hurt.

Why wont he let you put her between you two?

@MrsRcCar: This is exactly what I'm anticipating. I think DH and I will probably have angry words about it and this morning won't ever be forgotten.

N is generally a great sleeper but when we travel he will only sleep on me or DH.

A is 8 months and still wakes up a few times a night. The only wsy I can get her to sleep past 5am is to put her in with me but DH hates it and says it's dangerous. Well today he was proved right when he walked in after a shower and one of her legs was stuck between our mattress and the crib. I don't know what happened, I never let go of her but I obviously did. I feel terrible and thank god she was okay and didn't fully fall. But now there is no way he's going to let me bring her in bed again and we have a week in Spain and a week in England coming up.DH has got his mum to sort out a travel crib in each location but I would bet my left arm she won't sleep in them. They don't seem to have travel cribs with the cosy bassinet-type thing in Europe, they're just like a playpen and baby sleeps at floor level. How am I going to lower her into that without her waking? He also thinks she sleeps well because he's not the one getting up multiple times a night to feed and soothe her so he doesn't really understand. He won't let me put her between us either.

Any tips for helping her sleep on holiday? All I can think of I'd putting a mattress on the floor and me sleeping on it with her. I feel so sick thinking what could have happened
