Aww such a sad story. I read she was only 36. This is the article that I found on her. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/health/article-2094348/Caroline-Lovell-Home-birth-advocate-dies-delivering-baby-daughter-home.html?ITO=google_news_rss_feed

Very sad story.

For the record, one of my friends lost her mother in a very similar incident. She delivered in the hospital.

Stories like these make me wish there were a foolproof way of giving birth that could guarantee everyone comes out alive and well.

How sad for her family! :( I respect a woman’s right to give birth where she feels most comfortable, but IMO I think a lot of women forget how dangerous birthing has always been and continues to be, for both mother and baby.

It says she suffered cardiac arrest during birth and then passed away the next day at the hospital.
I think it's incredibly sad but I also believe that it may have been a different turn out had she delivered in a hospital.
I'm not a big supporter of home births. But, that's just my opinion.
No matter what, the story is awful and I pray for her family.

I think she actually died at the hospital the day after the home birth.

That is just so awful and tragic. Thigs can and do go wrong both at home and in the hospital. I would personally never choose a homebirth, but if I did I would need to know for sure that the hospital was 5 minutes away.

I agree with @Artbee, things can go wrong wherever you are, and it's always tragic to hear about a mother passing during birth.

How awful. I feel like things can go wrong in the hospital setting too, there's no winning anymore.

Tragic. I've considered home birth, but was really happy with my hospital experience!

This is really scary. I definitely respect a woman's right to a home birth, but I know personally I would be way too frightened to go that route.

I thought this was a relatively even-handed article, spurred by news of the death of a home birth advocate. I'm so sad for her family!
