I livein the Bay Area, California. We pay $150 a week for a licensed home daycare with preschool curriculum with the primary teacher and two assistants, one a.m. anD one p.m. The hours are 630-6, bit LO is usually there 730-430 unless Dh is on a business trip. When he travels, I have to send her 630-530. Breakfast, lunch, snacks are included.

Since she had school aged kids, the daycare is closed on most school holidays, so most federal holidays like MLK day, from Christmas Eve through the next working day after New Year's, and a week of vacation in the summer, all paid. We do get to keep her out for 2 weeks unpaid for family vacations.

We are in South Western Ontario. We pay 215$ a week for home daycare. It is 7:30-4:30 and I life's all drinks, snacks and hot lunch. It is a teacher day care so we don't pay/send her over the summer or Christmas holidays/March Break. It's a few dollars more a day than a typical home day care. Centers are about 275$ a week.

We live in a fairly low cost of living area in the Midwest. In-home providers were about 150-200 wk. Most include snacks but not lunch. Daycare centers here run 250+/wk

We use a nanny because of my hours and part time work status but when we were considering in home care, they ranged from $55-70/day per child, meals and snacks included. Centers are significantly more expensive. We are just north of Boston.

We use a large in home daycare in the Bay Area. 7am-6pm. $225/wk all food included. A center would start about $320/wk without food and shorter hours.

We have a licenced dayhome, and we pay 900 for our toddler and 1000 for our baby a month. Food is included, hours are from 7;30 am to 5:00 pm. They're closed on stats, but no other holidays (although they are usually closed over Christmas because no one comes).

We have used an in-home for the past almost 3 years which we found while working with an agency. I think the cost varies so much by location and also if the caregiver is independent or through an agency like ours.

Before LO started nursery school this year, we went 5 days/week and could attend anytime between 7:30am and 5:30pm. She provides all food (no diapers when he was younger) and we paid close to $350/week. We also live in an area where childcare is very, very expensive.

We pay $135/week for preschool aged child. She does breakfast, lunch, and snacks. We don't use breakfast cause we don't drop him off that early. Her hours are 7-5, but willing to keep him later if I can't get there by 5.
We live in Minnesota suburbs. Comparable rates for preschool center is $175-$200/week

When we were looking at daycares, the in-home we toured was $1400/month. We ended up going with a center, for various reasons, and at the time it was one of the lower-priced centers around at $1775/month. Those prices were for infant care. Once the kids were eating solid foods, both prices included meals and snacks. Unfortunately, a grant our center used to receive expired, so the prices are much higher now -- the infant room is right around $2000/month, I think. Not sure how much the in-home has changed, but the woman who runs it has expanded it significantly (is planning to open one or two new "retail" locations in addition to the one in her house and has hired several employees) so now it's more like a small center anyway.

We are in Northern California, in a town with higher cost of living, but outside the Bay Area. We pay $250 a week and that includes lunch and snacks (most kids eat breakfast before they arrive). Hours are 730-5pm although if you get there by 530pm it's not a huge deal. There are places as low as $850-900 per month but that's just the only place that we could get into.

In the same town a large nationally accredited center is $1650-1700 a month. Church and smaller places can run a bit less.

Everyone has an 18 month-ish wait list!

It might be more helpful if the answers included an average of what the cost would be compared to daycare center so you could compare.

Here, a center is $225 to 300+ a week; most full time in-home daycares advertise around $150-175/wk

We pay $40/day for a licensed provider. She's open from 7:30-5 and provides all meals/snacks. She follows a preschool curriculum and we love her. The only downside is she takes most holidays off, 2 weeks at Christmas, and usually a week in summer. All paid! She also has a really strict sick policy which is great in some respects but we don't have a lot of help so it makes things difficult for us sometimes.

How much do you pay for home daycare?

What do you think is a fair price range per day/month? Depending on how you pay.

And are your meals, snacks, and milk included or do you provide them for your child? Only asking that in case that is the reason for a cost difference.
