@BeachMama: I just remembered the other remedy I read about. Its using milk of magnesia on your breasts. This I made sure to put on with a cotton ball after nursing and made sure to wipe off with a damp washcloth before the next nursing session. It really helped with the itchiness.

@BeachMama: When I do a cotton swab I just use straight vinegar. In my washing machine I add about 1/2 - 1 cup per load (mine has a pre-wash spot but you could just dump it in).

I used vinegar rinses at the suggestion of the IBLC that I was seeing. I use a cotton swab and just wipe off the breast after each feeding. I made sure to also wash all clothing (particularly bras) with vinegar. Sometimes when the pain/itchiness was really bad I would actually lean over the counter and soak my breast in a bowl of vinegar/water mix (about 50/50). It was so soothing.

There was another remedy that was a bit less founded, it was something my mom had heard about when my sister had thrush as a baby. I will have to look it up again when I get home.

I read a blog by a woman who had a lot of issues with thrush. This link should take you to all of her posts with a thrush tag.. hopefully it will be helpful to you. Good luck!

This is kind of a spinoff on my other post on thrush. My doctor put me on Diflucan today but I was wondering if you've used other home remedies. I've read a bit about vinegar washes - how do you use them? is there anything else I can do at home to get rid of this?
