@jedeve: Same!

@rahlyrah: LO seems to be okay with anything mixed with butternut squash, pears, apple, and green beans.

These were a few favorites when I was trying to introduce some more complex flavors/spices:
- cauliflower, spinach and cheese
- chicken, peas, apricot & apple puree (I used a pre-packaged applesauce with apricot puree from Whole Foods)
- parsnip & carrot with cumin and coriander

I used weelicious for inspiration a lot too.

For those that mixed food combos, did you mix it all together? Defrost the frozen cubes (if you did that) and stir it all together? I'm assuming this is after lo has tried it for the first time.

I cook/puree everything separately as well, and then mix and match 1 cube at a time.

We do mostly BLW, but she loves a sweet potato peach combo, and avocado pear.

The wholesome baby food website is great! Also don't be afraid of spices, just no salt. I put garlic in green peas, used cinnamon, nutmeg, etc. DD liked the sort of "Fall" blends like pumpkin apple cinnamon, sometimes I'd add a little rice or oatmeal, too.

@rahlyrah: I was so offended when LO rejected my purées! I too used store bought as inspiration. Favorites these days:

Carrots/peas
Sweet potato/blueberry (his fave)
Beet, carrot apple

I also make prune cubes and mix with organic plain yogurt. He's obsessed!

Going to make green bean/pear this weekend.

I do the same thing as @jedeve: - puree everything separately and freeze in ice cube trays. That makes it really easy to try new combos and to up the serving size as DD grows. She is almost through purees now, but some combos she loves:

lima beans + applesauce + green beans
carrots + mango
mango + berry blend
applesauce + peas
sweet potatoes + butternut squash
sweet potatoes + peaches
peas + spinach
peas + lima beans
red beans and rice + applesauce
carrots + butternut squash
corn + peas
corn + cherries
mango + cherries
broccoli + peas

I also tend to add some sort of spice (cinnamon, cumin, curry, herbs) to my purees, which DD *really* likes.

I cooked everything separately for the most part and thn would freeze it in ice cube trays and then mix and match. It helped cut down on waste if he didn't like something!

I think kids sometimes like store bought because they are so sweet. Try mixing apples in! It's in almost every store bought one.

I found this cookbook helpful for more creative combos:
http://www.amazon.com/Healthy-Baby-Meal-Planner-Recipes/dp/1451665598/ref=la_B001H6OCLY_1_2?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1391112319&sr=1-2

DD loved the chicken/sweet potato/apple one best, and she loved various fruit combos (apple/peach/strawberry was a popular one). I also let the combos found in stores inspire me!
