Thanks all. He was cranky before the ham yesterday so it's difficult to say if he feels sick afterwards because of it. He threw up yesterday when he tried to eat a pollen pod outside and later when he was trying to chew a thin piece of apple so lots going on. In the moment he definitely liked the ham. We got it at a grocery store and honey is listed as an ingredient.

I don't think there's actual honey in their recipe. http://allergenfreeplease.blogspot.se/2009/12/honeybaked-ham.html

I didn't but it wouldn't have worried me if I did. I'm sure it'll be fine. I know it's technically not recommended, but isn't the honey on the ham before it's baked?

@autumnleaves: turning 1 this week, I wouldn't worry st all.

But just heating the ham doesn't actually kill the (very small) risk of botulism spores. I had heard you have to heat it to like commercial grade temps and even then it's not advised, so the way you would heat a ham wouldn't be enough to kill it. BUT still not a concern for a 51 week old baby.

Whoops- I didn't even think about the honey in the ham. It's heated so I'm not too worried. Our little guy is almost 10 months.

Turing one this week? I wouldn't think twice. It's not a switch that turns on in their body on their birthday - Hehe.

Did your DS think it was delicious?

Not ham, but LO ate bread made with honey starting at 11 months. He had no negative side effects. And in cooking the ham the glaze would boil which would kill the spores that carry botcholism. You're fine.

DS2 is turning 1 later this week and DH gave him a piece of honey baked ham today not thinking about the honey issue. Has anyone given their LO honey baked ham before they turned 1?
