Mostly on weekends. Not that we can't on weekdays but she's fine with what she's eating now and there is something hot in there (waffle).

I'm surprised I'm in the minority bc yup, I make my kids a hot breakfast every day. We rotate between pancakes, French toast, scrambled eggs, oatmeal, and I guess the one cold meal we do is smoothies and cereal.

DD's breakfast rotation involves eggs, toasted waffles (frozen), or oatmeal. So I guess 2/3 of the time. DH prepares her breakfast, though.

She eats a gigantic bowl of steel-cut oats and fruit everyday so I guess technically that's hot breakfast, but they're super fast and easy so it doesn't feel like it's a pain. Only on weekends do we make pancakes, sausage, eggs, etc.

My kids won't eat eggs/bagels as their first meal of the day - on days DH and I want "brunch", whoever is up first gives them cereal/oatmeal as their breakfast, and they eat our breakfast as their lunch.

Other days they usually ask for oatmeal or cereal (both with dried fruit as a topping). They're learning to eat English muffins w/ peanut butter, and have been asking for waffles a lot (but I don't want to make that a habit). They always have fruit, and sometimes yogurt - they're STARVING in the morning.

Every single day. But I make breakfasts in advance and pop them in the oven when DH wakes up so they are hot as he is heading out the door (he takes to work and eats there) - this week we've had a bacon/cheddar/spinach/tomato egg quiche, a potato/egg/tomato egg casserole, homemade French toast sticks, homemade blueberry muffins served with eggs, and a peanut butter banana baked oatmeal.

Breakfast is such an important meal of the day that I think it's vital it be really nutritious. We don't do cold cereal in this house for that reason because it's pretty much nutritionally bankrupt and the times they have had it their attitudes have been terrible.

Never, because we're simple breakfast people. Sometimes we'll do oatmeal as a fancy meal on weekends, but mostly we eat toast, yogurt, fruit. I would happily make eggs if my kids liked them, though. But how odd to flat out insist on a hot breakfast.

My son gets a hot breakfast in the mornings mostly because it's simply more calorie dense and I'm always trying to get his weight up or maintain it. If it were up to him he would subsist solely on fruit and maybe some rice.

I usually make a 2 or 3 egg omelet with diced ham and veggies cooked in butter or olive oil twice a week, cool it, and then cut it into bite size pieces and keep it in the fridge. I also make tater tots twice a week in the toaster oven and keep them in the fridge as well. Then in the morning we zap a few tots and omelet bites in the microwave for 15 seconds, add some ketchup, and put two mini frozen pancakes or half a toaster waffle with a little butter and syrup on his plate. If I don't have eggs, he gets turkey breakfast sausage instead. We wait for him to eat some of his breakfast and then he's allowed to have half a banana. And he usually steals bites of DH's yogurt/fruit/granola bowls.

Um, never? He doesn't like eggs, we haven't done toast yet, and when I make oat cakes (which he loves!), I make them in the evening and do freeze batches. Usually he has yoghurt, a banana, another fruit (like mango), and oatmeal, which is usually lukewarm by the time he eats it.

LO is one and I still can't get her to eat any real breakfast foods :bummed: But to me, hot breakfasts besides oatmeal are for the weekend. @T.H.O.U.: Agreed that lots of "hot" breakfast-type foods really aren't that healthy. I'm hoping eventually LO will have oatmeal like me during the week for breakfast and then on the weekends it's pancake time!

She usually has something hot every day. Breakfast is generally her biggest meal so I take advantage of her hunger and fill her up! So she might have eggs, sausage or oatmeal with yogurt and fruitor cereal or some combination of the above. Some cultures are all about the hot breakfast as a rule though. I knew a Ukrainian guy in college who poured hot coffee into his cold cereal/ milk in the dorm caf because it had to be a 'hot breakfast.'
