@locavore_mama: yeah I will but it's not for a little while. It's fine I'll just dangle my feet in til then. I read that hot tubs in early pregnancy is really the issue (neural tube defects) so I wouldn't want to mess with that.

@winniebee: maybe ask your OB at your first appointment? My OB told me to avoid hot tubs but since we don't have one I never explored it further.

I have avoided hot tubs, but not hot baths. I started out temping the water to make sure it wasn't too hot, but I don't worry about it anymore. The water doesn't stay consistently hot, anyway.

@winniebee: i think so! we haven't had ours opened for the season yet, but thinking of keeping it lower anyway since heat isn't good for fertility overall and we'll be ttc this summer... i think as long as you're not overheated and it's for a short period it'd be ok?

Yeah we have a hot tub so it's kinda sitting in the backyard! I didn't know if turning it way down and going in very briefly would be ok.

I was told it was anything that would raise your body temp-- so, above 99 degrees pretty much. I never take baths at home (except in labor when I just laid forever!) but there were a couple of times I had to skip the hot tub and was sad.

Confession-- I did go in a hot spring (gasp!). But I stayed in the cooler end of it and mostly was only in from my hips down and only stayed in for 5 minutes or so. I just couldn't resist.

I was told by my m/w that if it was hot enough for your skin to turn pink, it was too hot. Or if you felt overheated, it was too hot.

I went in a hot tub a few times while pregnant, but I stayed in for short periods of time, and made sure to drink lots of water.

I'm going against the grain, I assumed it was the same as a bath and kept ours at 99 and didn't worry about it. I figured it's not like I was going to be in it for hours. At the end of my pregnancy I loved it, it was so much larger than a tub!

We have a hot tub that we keep around 100* and I skipped it altogether. I did take hot baths though. I heard that the difference between hot tubs and baths is that hot tubs stay at that temp consistently throughout, but baths cool off so your body temp lowers.

What's the deal? Only bad for you if too hot? How hot is too hot? I remember something like 100 degrees is max for baths and showers during pregnancy?
