@SweetCaroline: I would bring an extension and plug the air fryer closer to to the sliding door of the deck... Don't stress too much for food. They'll have too much to care. I would also just have fruits and veggies precut for ease prep.

You can totally do this!! I have videos of my then 2 year old falling asleep while trying valiantly to eat a chip after swimming all afternoon on vacation. And one day he just looked at us around dinner time and said “I need to go in there” (travel crib) and was totally out. I bet they’ll both be tired so I would just be prepared to go with the flow for them. My kids LOVE mini cereal on vacation and think it is the biggest treat.

The one thing I haven’t figured out for us all sleeping together is DH’s snoring - sound machine can’t cover it up and our littlest hates it and always wakes up!

You guys are so awesome! Thank you so much.

@erinbaderin: You are 100% right and I needed that pep talk. My first pandemic trip outside of camping and first trip with 2 kiddos!

@Bluemasonjar: Uncrustables great idea!

@hellobeeboston: Ah! Those mini cereals, need to get them! LOL--painters tape is for covering the outlets and taping dresser drawers closed. Maybe taping the black out curtains to the well. Yes, I am an overthinker. No, the travel crib is for the 2 year old. Wish I could wrangle the 7 year old in there

@caitcat: Trash bags, yes! You guys are making me feel better about the sleep situation.

@bakingdoodle: I thought about bringing an air fryer or something but I am terrified I'll trigger the fire alarm. :silly:

@JennyPenny: Great snack ideas! Adding them to the list!

All the suggestions you have already are great. Just wanted to add that one of my kids favorite meals that we often do while traveling is a mix of cheese and crackers, and some veggies and pita with hummus. During the pandemic we’ve been packing it up at home and bringing it along on trips so we don’t have to stop at restaurants but it’d work great as a hotel picnic too!

The last time I went to the water park, that was over 3 years ago and my kids were wiped out. We went out once to a Japanese restaurant. The rest, we did in room. If today, I were to go, I would bring my air fryer ... so I can reheat pizza, and make grilled cheese. Bring cereals cup (like you said) and consider it done.

I bet the water park will wear the kids out well enough to sleep too. When we've done the pool at hotels, our kids are wiped out! And they're typically pretty difficult sleepers, so it's such a treat.

We typically do takeout to eat in our hotel room when we're traveling too. Your packing list sounds great to me - only thing I'd add is extra trash bags. We always burn through those with meals in our room.

Hopefully the kids will be super tired after a full day in the waterpark!

My kids LOVE hotels. All of your in-room food sounds good. We also get those little travel cups of cereal and then get a jug of milk for the fridge for a quick/easy breakfast. I also sometimes make muffins and bring them for an easy breakfast add-on, or snack.

Curious, what is the painters tape for?? And your 7yo fits in a travel crib?!

Our MUST HAVE for hotel-life is a sound machine and a nightlight, and they each have a squish-mallow pillow they bring. They typically share the pull-out bed.

We did an indoor water park a few weeks ago with my 6 and 3 year old boys. They were both so worn out from playing in the water that once we got them into bed they were asleep quickly which is the opposite of bed time at home (especially for the 3 year old). It was a really great trip so hopefully yours goes smoothly as well.

We brought breakfast and lunch foods but bought pizza at one of the hotel restaurants for dinner. I did easy to grab things to eat: muffins, granola bars, uncrustable pb&j sandwiches, pirates booty etc. Our room had a fridge but there were also microwaves available on each floor of the hotel.

Try to look forward to it! It will probably be better than you think it will be. Don’t worry too much about routines, if the little one is up too late he’ll be ok, a few days off routine won’t ruin anything. All day in a water park might make big sis more tired than usual anyway.

I actively avoid traveling with kids! I have a 7 year old and a 21 month old. We are active campers but have not stayed in a hotel with both kids. Previous trips when the 7 year old was 3-4 were train wrecks (up till midnight, etc.). The pandemic has made it easy to avoid this challenge!

We are going to an indoor water park for 3 nights for Spring Break. Looking for tips! I would like to avoid restaurants. A little bit is pandemic hesitancy but also don’t want to take a 2 year old to a restaurant! We will rely on takeout. Thinking we could do bagels, cereal, muffins for breakfast. We will have a fridge but not a microwave. Prob bring PBJ makings, maybe instant oatmeal and easy Mac.

We will bring painters tape, travel crib, disinfectant wipes, bags for diapers, plastic tablecloths for in room picnics, sound machine, melatonin for sis. One parent will take big sis on adventure while little bro goes to sleep at night. Sadly we just have the one room, no suite. Bro has a travel crib.

I need all the tips! Good food, other key packing items, any hacks you find useful. I appreciate it!
