We have done this several times with no issues. I also brought a crib sheet and blanket and wiped it down ahead of time. LO slept great and I was so happy not have brought the PnP!

The times we stayed in a hotel or rental they gave us a pnp and it was fine. I suppose I would have cared more if she was teeny tiny but by five months (age on our first trip) she didn't seem so so delicate. Brought our own pnp sheets and it was fine.

I would confirm with the hotel whether it's a crib or pnp so you bring the right sheet.

If it icks you out and it's a wood crib, you can always wipe it down, I did!

And I also always bring my own mattress pad and sheet, too.

@Andrea: same for us. The only time we ever had a problem with the hotel crib was in Thailand. It was a giant wooden drop sided crib that I'm sure was at least 40 years old. But domestically, no problems with safety or cleanliness.

We always use a hotel/house rental crib and we haven't had any issues. They are pretty basic cribs, but do the trick!

I'm flying to a wedding with LO & my mom in a few weeks, ad we are staying in a hotel. I would rather not bring the PnP & LO is used to sleeping in a crib anyway. We'd bring a mattress pad & sheets & wipe it down of course... But it still gives me the heebie jeebies for some reason! I don't know why since she's slept in a hotel bed with me before.

I also wonder if they are safe in addition to the cleanliness factor?
