@jennlin821: If it makes you feel any better, I'm also in ME and have friends in hospitality. Apparently it is CRAZY busy... People either are from away and hunkering down if they're unable to get out of the state, or trying to self-isolate from family members by going to local hotels.

I think you made the right call.

@jennlin821: hang in there.... I've been doing some live-streaming already of my favorite work out classes, including yoga which I just started doing and it's really nice to have my own space and time to still feel normal doing those, even though it's in my bedroom or basement... and yeah, i'm trying to keep up with my active 7 & 4 year old and make sure they're having a productive day, while trying to work remotely full time. My job is definitely suffering a bit, but my employer is pretty sympathetic to the situation, so that's good.

@josina: @Pollywog: @crazydoglady: @hellobeeboston: @BadgerMom:
Thanks everyone. I cancelled the reservation. Hopefully I can get the room again even cheaper in a few months when the pandemic slows down.

In the meantime, please send some mental strength my way. I don't know how i'm going to get through the next several months wen i'm already burnt out.

I might start a thread on self-care during quarantine... I know I'll need ideas!

I agree with pp. I think your best bet is noise cancelling headphones and a locked bedroom door.

I wouldn’t go. There’s no way to wipe down every surface you’ll be in contact with. Plus you’ll be interacting with people. Ask your husband to support you in having a staycation in your bedroom - no disturbing mommy for any reason for the evening.

Nope. I get the stress. I'm working full time, with two kids at home, mostly as a solo parent. It's exhausting. But, we're in the middle of a national emergency and this is not the time to put anyone at unnecessary risk. I'm sorry.

Tough one! I'm leaning towards no... hotel = travelers = more likely to pick something up.
Is there any other way to allow yourself that time away without staying in a hotel? Parent's house? Lock yourself in the master bedroom?

I am supposed to take a mom-cation on friday night.
My plan is to go to a hotel room by myself, to watch TV, read, and soak in the bathtub while eating pizza.
The hotel is in the same town I live in.

This is long overdue, it was supposed to be a birthday present last august (instead my grandfather died) so we postponed it to my half-birthday in Feb, but then my family had the flu.

I am an extreme introvert so I try to take a weekend like this once or twice a year. I am extremely burnt out and in desperate need of some time to recharge.

On top of that, DD's (3) daycare is closing tomorrow, so I will be a SAHM during the day, while doing my full-time commercial lending job remotely after she sleeps; so two full time jobs in one day. I need to recharge before taking on this monumentous task, not to mention just the stress of COVID-19 during daily life over the past week.

So am I crazy to go to a hotel for one night? I won't have contact with anyone, i'm going to bring my own pillow and blanket, and clorox wipes to clean all the surfaces.

DH doesn't want me to, thinks i'm exposing myself needlessly. I'm in ME, we have 33 confirmed cases.
