@swurlygurl: Haha that might qualify, but your LO doesn't seem to care. What a cutie!

@Mrs. Yoyo: Is this what you meant by scary looking? :)

We ended up hoping for the best, and were pleasantly surprised. At 2 of the hotels we got new-looking pack n plays that fit our sheet perfectly. The 3rd hotel was this picture. It came with crib bumpers and a really soft mattress... We made due.

I've never had an issue with the hotel running out of cribs or pack and plays, and they've always been in good condition.
Worse case you can run to walmart and buy one for $50

Honestly, I would just take the chance and use the hotel PNP. Bringing your own is a big hassle - it's bulky and you'll already have your hands full w/ your LO and your luggage. We have never had a problem getting one from the hotel.

We've stayed in a lot of hotels/new places with DD, sometimes w/ her PNP, sometimes with the hotel's, and it didn't make that big of a difference on her sleep.

I never had problems getting one, and i would just push harder to ensure that it gets reserved. That's what we did, and we got one agent who was nice to make sure that one was available for us.

We had so much to take with us when traveling that the pnp was just a hassle, imo. We opted to risk it. In fact, when i was staying at a relative's place, i just made a makeshift area on the floor and she was fine.

@MaisyMay: That's an interesting idea! I did get mine for free a couple years ago... that would cut the cost in half

@swurlygurl: Since it's last minute, maybe you could pick up a cheap second hand one, take it with you, and then donate/give it away so that you don't have to pay luggage fees back. I've seen them for $5-10 before.

@MaisyMay: I doubt shipping is an option, we leave tomorrow... I would also be surprised if we could rent one somewhere, we're heading to a pretty small town. Last minute slacker - that's my style ;)

@swurlygurl: Have you looked into what it would cost to ship it to the first hotel? Or to rent one depending on the area you are going to? It might be cheaper than $50 fees each way.

@artbee: I think so, but DH doesn't. I told him that if we do end up going his route that he has to deal with her if she refuses to sleep. Maybe I should give in just for that reason ;)

@Mrs. Yoyo: Oh yes, we would definitely bring our own sheets. I forgot to bring them on another trip and had to use a blanket my mom had - she ended up rolling around in the blanket every night... :/

@lamariniere: $50 total. $100 would be crazy!

@MaisyMay: Yes, same area (all within 2 hour drive). We're going for DH's younger brother's wedding - unfortunately no one up there is anywhere close to having a pack and play!

Are you going to be staying in the same area, have a rental car between hotels? If so, I'd consider having your P&P shipped to the first hotel or see if a friend/family member in the area has one you could borrow?

We travel a ton and have never had an issue with hotels running out of baby beds or having scary ones (except in Asia). I would risk not bringing yours.

Also, is the $50 extra baggage fee per leg or round trip? I definitely wouldn't spend $100 to bring along the bed.

I would probably pay to bring the PNP since your LO is familiar with it. Hotel PNPs can be totally fine or scary and ancient-looking ... you never know what you're going to get, if you can get one.

ETA I have never had a problem getting one either (but if you decide to go this route, definitely bring your own sheets).

I've done quite a bit of traveling with DD lately, but it's all been to somewhere I could either drive and easily bring a pack and play or we flew and stayed with family who had a pack and play for us to use.

However, this time we're flying and staying at 3 different hotels... the hotels all say they have pack and plays available, but they're first come first serve so there is no guarantee we would get one. We are flying Delta so we have to pay for checked bags (pack and plays aren't part of the free checked baby items).

DH thinks we should risk it and hope for an available pack and play. He said if we aren't lucky enough to get one we can create some sort of sleep zone on the floor for her made out of suitcases and pillows and blankets. She's just starting to crawl though, and I don't really see her staying in her 'zone' very well. Plus she likes to 'burrow' in the corner of her crib/pack and play to get to sleep.

So, I'm trying to decide what we want to do... pay $50 to bring the pack and play, or risk it. Anyone have any experience with any of this? It'll be for a total of 4 nights.
