We saw a house late last spring and it took until October to close the deal. It was intense negotiations and one or the other party walked away three times. We got a phone call at 6:30 that they countered. Get this - at asking price!! No negotiation at all. They will only take listing price. Their realtor even told ours that he has never in 30 years had someone counter back at listing price. He doesn't think it is worth it ar all andcwanted to list it - and it was listed at our iffer price in the fall and st tge beginning if April. So we decided to give it one last go and counter back at our top price which we figured we would end up at anyways- $10 000 more then original offer and 15000 from list price. So we have them till 9:00 ( which is in 40 mins to counter). If we here nothing then we move one which we are fine with. So we shall see. We were on the fence about renting vs buying anyway, but the market here is so crazy-- things would be listed and sold within a week, and almost always for above asking price! We found a rental that works great for us for now and will revisit buying in a couple of years. </p> <p>We did put in one offer that ended up in a little bit of a bidding war-- we gave our best price, they ended up accepting someone at above asking, then that fell threw and they came back to our realtor to see if we were still interested. We've made one offer that wasn't accepted, plus had a couple of houses we were interested in sell before we could even schedule to look at them (within 2 or 3 days of listing). There is a house that has been on the market 3 times in the last 6 months, that we really like, a house to grow into, needs some (aka a lot) of work just to move in. We showed our parents last night, got my dads opinion, and have decided to make an offer (cue the anxiety attack). I am at work, so DH is at the realtors office right now writing up the offer, and then they are coming to work to get me to sign. He just called to say that the sellers are being demanding and stuck on asking price (which apparently even the sellers realtor is saying is not a reasonable asking price). So we are going in with our price, and hoping! </p>
