I like the idea of the mini fridge! Do they know you're doing IUI or would you have to make up an excuse for what you're getting, as well? They probably won't wake up or even say anything to you. I also second the idea of having a laptop and headphones so you can browse/watch something in bed if you cna't go back to sleep. Good luck!

We had the most awkward TTC moment. We were doing hormone therapy so we had prescribed baby dancing days. Well we also had been planning a trip to Alaska with both sets of our parents. We were on a small sailing ship in Alaska with super thin walls inches away from his parents. It was also in these awkward ship beds with so little room to move. My husband and I just laugh now but I was so nervous that his parents would hear. I guess my only excuse if they brought it up was that we were trying to make grand babies for them.

We did have to DTD before while with other people in the house before b/c I was OV and I would be so paranoid about being quiet!
In the first trimester, I had to use progesterone every night while I was gone for my sister's b-party. It was awkward so I managed to act like I was going to the bathroom every night and hide the stuff in my sleeves. For your IUI from the fridge, I would just act like I am getting some water to drink every night. Would that work as a disguise?

OMG that's so awkward!! Can you buy a mini fridge for your bedroom?

We narrowly avoided having houseguests last week due to the hurricane (although I offered graciously) and it's a good thing because I got my positive OPK on Monday!

Oh, good luck! Could you have a laptop to watch something if you can't go back to sleep? I would definitely be sending my husband out to deal with fishing it out from the fridg! Let him bumble out some excuse. I would tell my sister and mom, but wouldn't feel comfortable yet sharing that with the MIL.

I thought I would be ovulating at Thanksgiving time (that changed), and I was already cringing about being at our parent's house during that time!

Oh that is awkward! I hope the first time injections go OK-- I imagine there is a little bit of a learning curve with figuring out how to do it! You can always say you got up for a glass of water or something, though-- no need to let them know if you don't want to.
I thought this would just be about having sex with people close by. Last month my sister was visiting the weekend of O, and normally I have a strict 'no sex while people are sleeping in the living room' rule, so even though I hadn't told DH I was ovulating, he figured it out right away. Oh well.

Wow - yeah, I guess with injections and the size of your place you would almost always have to kind of let people know? Good luck with your first time injections. Maybe they will be your last! :)

My husband and I now have a little method for "taking care of business" when we have house guests :) But sometimes when people ask if they can come and stay with us I check the calendar to see where I'll be in my cycle. The window of possibility is so small! I don't want to miss it! I guess TTC for over a year has made me a little crazy? :)

Oh my, that is awkward! I don't have any stories as good as that one. My first month TTC my DH and I were at my mom's for the weekend. The room we stay in is my old bedroom and it has a futon instead of a bed. It was definitely awkward and uncomfortable!

I thought it would be fun to share awkward/embarrassing/frustrating stories about TTC while having houseguests. Right now, my sister in law and mother in law are staying with us (in an 800 sf apt) because their power is out due to the hurricane. I have to wake up at 3:00 a.m. to inject myself with hormones in prep for our IUI Sunday. The medicine is refrigerated so I will have to step over them in the living room to retrieve it from the kitchen. I will be nervous since it is my first time doing an injection, and if I can't go back to sleep I can't watch tv or anything. What can you do? :)
