I do more of the chores related to DS - prepping his bottles, making his food, etc.<br /> Household chores (outdoor): DH<br /> Shopping - groceries, etc. Both, we tend to do this together. Though for bigger purchases I do all the research.<br /> Bills/Financials - DH. money stresses me out, so he handles it.<br /> Long term planning - Except for the financial stuff, which DH handles, I do vacations, childcare/school, etc. Though we both weigh in on these decisions.</p> <p>I have a really great DH! He's been good with the kitchen lately and have been loading/running the dishwasher. I clean the main bathroom, he deals with all trash, recycling and runs the fireplace. Lately, we both cook, which I really appreciate :happy:<br /> Household chores (outdoor): DH shovels snow, takes out the trash, composts, mows, digs, and does all the heavy planting, and chops wood.<br /> Shopping - groceries, etc: I do all gift, clothes, decor shopping. DH will help out at night if he is home.</p> <p>Household chores (indoor): laundry, cooking and cleaning are all on me for the most part. DH might sweep the floors or sort the mail if he feels like it. </p> <p>Household chores (outdoor): none really since we are in a condo. </p> <p>Shopping - groceries, etc.: typically together but this is pretty 50-50 if one of us doesn't feel like going. </p> <p>Bills/Financials - He runs the "cash flow" and I schedule the payments. He handles investments and long term planning. </p> <p>Long term planning: All me, researching and planning are my specialties but I like this part. Plus it keeps our lives running smoother. </p> <p>Overall, I take on more of the "life" stuff so he can focus on work. I try my best do do the flowers with my black thumb. So my daily routine is more rigid, though he occasionally has out of town trips.<br /> Childcare: Right now we have a babysitter and DH does the drop off/pickup 90% of the time. When I have #2 and go back to work, we are going back to a daycare and I will do drop off/pickup 90% of the time.<br /> Household chores (indoor): 70% me. I do all the laundry and heavy duty cleaning; he folds his own laundry and occasionally runs the sweeper/picks up. He takes care of all dog-related issues. And I've never trimmed L's nails. We swap cooking and cleaning up from dinner.<br /> Household chores (outdoor) - 90% DH. We have an aboveground pool, he does all the mowing. I pick up dog poop and help rake/weed/shovel when I'm not pregnant.<br /> Shopping - groceries, etc. - 99% me. He's a beast.</p> <p>Childcare: Mostly me but my mom comes 3 days a week and she is a huge help. DH likes to do set tasks with DS like bathtime and story and taking him for a stroller walk. DH is also good about watching DS when I need to run errands but I usually time them for naps.</p> <p>Household chores (indoor): We both do laundry although I fold more and me and my mom do all the cooking and organizing. DH does garbage and recycling and vacuuming. I do bathrooms.</p> <p>Household (outdoors): Our lawn guy. DH handles any maintenance requests with our landlord and he handles all the car stuff.</p> <p>Shopping: Me</p> <p>Bills/Financial: Most of this is automated but mostly DH. We do set up our budget together.</p> <p>Long term planning: Financial is DH. Other things like schools and housing is joint. DH does all the dishes, vacuuming, kitty litter, garbage, recycling and deep cleans the bathrooms. He will do his own laundry too (but this makes me crazy).<br /> Household chores (outdoor): DH manages the yard, I take care of the garden.<br /> Shopping - groceries, etc.: Almost all me.<br /> Bills/Financials - I maintain all the bills and bank accounts, and do the taxes. But I used to be an accountant - I've done all of this since we moved in together, its just my thing! DH checks in on it occasionally.<br /> Long term planning - I do most of the leg work on anything long term, because I'm a Type A planner. I do most of the planning for our daughter when it comes to activities, preschool, dr appointments etc. DH plans all his stuff (which is more than either of our fathers did, so I call it a win?), and will plan for vacations that he is excited for (Europe, anything sports related) vs ones that are more my thing (such as Disney or the beach). We make all the final decisions together.</p> <p>It feels pretty balanced to me. I had decided I wanted to be one and done, but my husband really wanted more, so when I got pregnant, my husband assured me that he would work hard to make it easy on me. He's also ramping up his training for the next cyclocross season, so he's been asking for time to go do that. My morning sickness has really started now at 13 weeks (lucky me!), so I'm having a hard time. </p> <p>All of which culminated in a big crying mess last night when he hadn't done a bunch of housework that he'd promised to do, and was about to head out the door to go ride. Yikes. And we equally do random one off stops. </p> <p>Bills, Dh does more of the big family bills while I do smaller household bills.</p> <p>Planning is equal. I do more planning w vacations etc, he does more with big purchases like cars and/or refinancing. </p> <p>I think we're equally balanced with a lil more on my end because Dh's new job and increased hours and load at work. Which we both planned on going into it. I may do a bit more childcare or chores these days; hopefully, that offsets things a bit! I didn't do much for Charlie's first year or two, so I have some household balance debt to pay off!!</p> <p>How's the balance in your household lately? </p>
