@2PeasinaPod: oh wow, that sounds yummy! I do have a grocery store with an olive bar. I will have to see if they have the tomatoes and mozzarella.

@abbydabbydoodlebug: Do you have a Wegmans nearby or a grocery that has an olive bar? A super easy app is getting plain or garlic naan bread, and I get mozzarella/tomato salad from the Wegmans olive bar. Slice up the mozzarella and tomatoes on the naan, pop it in the oven until the cheese melts and it's an instant flatbread! I've also done this with grilled chicken and BBQ sauce with different cheeses.

@mrs.shinerbock: queso is a great idea! Everyone loves queso here. Maybe I'll do a couple dips to go with tortilla chips.

@2PeasinaPod: I have some battery candles that look real that I can use. I have them packed away... somewhere...lol

Good idea about food lables too! I got corner tile pieces and I use dry erase markers on them, which I had forgotten about too. They're packed away too, haha

I agree with not worrying about decorating. Whenever we have people over for any occasion (before we all had super young kids) I would put candles out all over. If you have a high enough spot (kitchen counter) that might be a nice touch as well.

As for the food, are you able to get cute little chalkboard labels to clothespin to your food items to let people know what they are? Sort of like the below:

http://www.amazon.com/Fancy-Rectangle-Chalkboard-Sticker-Variety/dp/B009JOYNBA

If you're wine drinkers, getting a fun pitcher, filling it with fruit and making some Sangria might be a lot of fun too.

I don't think I've ever seen decorations at a housewarming party other than maybe a nice floral arrangement, so I wouldn't worry about decorations.

Costco food - since the party hours are so long, I suggest food that can be served at room temp or you can put in a bowl of ice to keep chilled.

I love the Tex-mex Gouda dip with crackers. It's like fancy pimento cheese. Hummus and veggies. Fruit tray.

Queso and chips is always a big hit around here if you have a crockpot to keep it warm in. My neighbors make one with a package of Jimmy Dean sausage (cooked), a block of Velveeta and a can of Rotel tomatoes that is always popular at our block party. Just put in the crockpot and stir occasionally until it's all melted together.

I need help with housewarming ideas! We are having a party on labor day weekend and are having it open house style. It'll be in the afternoon from 3-8pm. It's also my birthday the day we are having it! I'm hoping to get most food at Costco so ideas of good party food there would be awesome. I'm planning on having just appetizers and a couple dessert bites.

I also don't know how I should decorate. Is there something more than fresh flowers that I should get? I've never had or been to a housewarming before so I'm kind of lost. Lol.
