Way, WAY off! My OB guessed 6 or 6.5 lbs and the resident at the hospital also guessed that range the day he was born. When my son came out at 8 lbs 5 oz, we were all blown away! My Dr kept asking where I'd hidden him, ha!

ETA: and he was born at 39+2

DS was estimated at 39 weeks as "barely 7 lbs" and "stringbean like". I delivered 9 days late and he was 7 lbs 7 oz and 21". I think she was pretty accurate.

This baby is estimated to be in the 6 lb range and "not a big baby at all" well see in a week or two how right she is this time!

Midwife guessed 6.75 lbs at 38 weeks, LO was born 3 weeks later at 7.5 lbs, so pretty close probably?

My midwives wouldn't guess as they said judging by feel alone is such an inaccurate method; we also don't have ultrasounds here after 20 weeks (unless medically necessary) so there were no guesses! The best I got was "you're consistently measuring 2-3 weeks behind on fundal height, which really doesn't mean anything, but you're probably not carrying a gigantic baby, although we won't know for sure until he/she arrives". Not much to derive from that comment but DD was 7 lbs 6 oz, about as average sized as you can get!

No idea on this baby yet, although at 28 weeks I'm measuring a week or so behind, so if that continues, I'd say this baby will be slightly larger than DD. Pure speculation with no basis in scientific fact though!

My doctor thought Xander was around 9 lbs at 36 weeks. Ultrasound at 37.5 weeks said he was 9 lbs 1 oz (but tech admitted that at that time, they can be off by a whole lb). Xander was born at 39 weeks weighing 8 lbs 14 oz.

My midwife admits that she's not a great guesser (many homebirth midwives can accurately guess an unborn baby's weight within several ounces), but she wouldn't be surprised if I have a 9-pounder. This, after two very average 7 something pound babies for me (with different care providers). So, I guess we'll see!
Did your care provider palpate and guess the weight based on that? How close were they when baby came out?
