He was spitting up quite a lot after feedings and an LC advised giving him one for just a few minutes. All the sucking really help keep everything down. However, DS was never really interested in the paci and would spit it out and not want it. My sister, who has two LOs, figured out how to get her to take it using some of her baby whisperer magic. Now, at 8 months, we have multiple, back up monkey wubbanubs and she has them for sleep, car trips and if she's extra fussy.</p> <p>I'm trying not to think about paci weaning her. Up until he was 3 months, he would suck on it for pleasure then spit it out when he was done with it (even awake!). She was fussier than normal that week, so my DH thought it was worth a shot. She still uses it at 4 months, mostly when she is tired. My boobs needed a break. He still uses it when he's fussy or tired. Hubs gives it to him more than I'd like (like when he's calmly playing?), so I end up popping it out of his mouth. It usually doesn't piss him off too much, though. After a night wake up with DH, I came into the room and he was happily sucking away. At 14 months, we still use one for bedtime and naps. We have 3 now because they are so awesome. Breastfeeding wasn't working and it was the only way to stop her screaming constantly. </p> <p>She stopped taking it for a few weeks between about 2 and 6 weeks but then she started taking it again. We just kept offering it when she was crying. It's pretty amazing. She has a wubbanub. He wasn't super into it but it did help curb the habit of using nursing to fall asleep/stay asleep.
