When it is something she wants to do, she is a great listener  Right now our struggle is listening when I ask her to hold my hand or stop, homegirl just wants to RUN! :bummed:

Via a good listener for most things but there are a few things where she just doesn't listen at all. And she learns other rules and boundaries really easily so I just don't understand why these two things are such sticking points (shaking the baby gate-- she literally pulled paint off the walls, and running on the couch-- obviously very dangerous). I know both must be fun and hard to resist but still.

My two year old never listens. Ever. I go through every form of his name 50 million times a day and still get ignored. Ugh.

I will say pretty good for both at the moment, but this changes pretty frequently. We've been in a good cycle recently though.

Before, an off day would mean I have to negotiate or reason a bit more patiently but now her no is much more defiant on her off days.

She doesn't listen at all!!!!! I actually got right in her ear today and asked if she could hear me! She doesn't even respond when I'm talking to her most of the time. She's in her own world.

DD is in threenager mode for sure!!! How much can a kid hate washing her hands??

I am going the "unruffled parent" route and so far it had worked in getting her to do what I want.

Not well. They're 3.5 and 1.5, my youngest listens a bit better than our "threenager" (love that), but it's not great. I think I told her to pick up her toys 50 times today, and now they're in a box in the garage.

A month ago, our son wasn't listening but our daughter was a wonderful listener. 30 days later, they've completely switched places: our son is listening like crazy, and really wants to please us. Meanwhile, our daughter has become a total threenager!!

It's a bit shocking, because she's always been such a great listener. Hoping that it's just a phase, and we get our good listener back!
