@LindsayInNY: I got these. They are really basic and they aren’t breakaway, but we wanted ones that could be used by kids and adults. For DD we just knot some of the extra length once we figure out the right length for her.

5 Pack - Adjustable Length Face Mask Lanyard - Handy & Convenient Safety Mask Holder & Hanger - Comfortable Around the Neck Facemask Rest & Ear Saver - Easy On & Off by Specialist ID (Black) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08BN3QVDQ/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_KXptFbM1GPEBH

@catgirl: Where did you find your mask lanyards? I like the idea of adjustable lengths.

We got mask lanyards - the ones with the double clips and the length can be adjusted. She will only be able to take it off to eat or for the movement and mask break outside. They aren't having recess or true free play (at least to start). It's not a perfect choice but was the best one we could figure out.

We were going to try gaiter style masks but they are no longer allowed by our district.

For extra masks I plan on attaching them to the lanyards ahead of time and keeping them in a ziplock bag. That way they are ready to go. One bag for clean and one bag for dirty.

DS doesn’t have to wear a mask at school but he will have to on the bus. I got him a bunch of neck gaiters. The weather is cooling off so it shouldn’t be so bad to wear all day.

@AB810: So I just ordered some breakaway lanyards off Etsy...I hadn't even thought of checking there. Thanks!

Ours requires they wear them around their neck. Either using gaiter style masks or some type of mask clip.

@AB810: True... I wonder if I could teach them to tuck their lanyard/mask inside their coat. That should be safe, right? We live in Canada so they will be wearing coats by the second week of school for sure :silly:

I bought a bunch of lanyard clips. They seem like the best choice to me. I’ve seen some on Etsy that have a breakaway clip if you’re really worried about the kids getting stuck.

In my province my two girls will not have to wear a mask in their classrooms or outside (our COVID rate is basically non existant). They are "strongly encouraged" to wear it when walking to the bathroom, in the hallways, etc. I can't figure out the best way to set them up with their masks. Especially when, for example, they wear their mask in the hallway to recess then take it off once on the playground. What do they do with their mask while they play?

I thought about a lanyard to clip it on when not in use- but then I got paranoid about them on the playground and getting it wrapped around their neck. Plus, won't it get super dirty flapping around everywhere?

I then thought about a fanny pack but I don't know if that would just drive them crazy having to maneuver all day.

How are your kids storing their masks at school when not in use?
