The first couple days were pretty horrible, after that it was pretty light for about 3 weeks. I had a few stitches too- that was the worst part, it was pretty uncomfortable.

The sitz bath put more pressure down there than I liked, things got much better when I realized that spraying down there with the removable shower head worked great.

With DS1 I totally felt like I could just sit on a bucket and it would overflow (sorry TMI!). It was horrible, and although after the first two weeks it got a bit better, it was still way beyond any heavy period I'd ever had.

However, with DS2, it was much, much easier. I didn't tear as much, so that could have something to do with it. Although the uterine contractions were worse post-partum, my bleeding was significantly less, and eased up much quicker (probably about 4 weeks versus the 7+ weeks for my first pregnancy).

Yeah, mine lasted several weeks and was super heavy for at least 10 days.

Although now that I think about it, normally I'd use tampons on my heaviest flow days, and since I couldn't do that post-birth, my comparison of period to lochia may be biased.

Mine wasn't bad at all. Bleeding was heavy in the beginning then lightened up fast. I wanna say it stopped between 1-2 weeks later.

I'm on my 5th day post-partum and am pleasantly surprised by how well my recovery is going. I'd read so much ahead of time about what to expect post-child birth and am curious at the discrepancy between what I've read and what I'm experiencing.
My bleeding was mid to heavy for a couple of days, but for the last two days it's been just like a light period- no over flowing pads or clothing ruining grossness for me. I'm not sure how long it will last, but it's pretty tame. (It may be related... I didn't have any tears just a couple of small "grazes" with no stitches required.)
Let's get a little graphic in the polls... :) (I hope I'm not the only one who finds this sort of thing interesting!)
