Our small sized diapers started fitting well around 10 lbs, but our one size diapers didn't fit well until about 12 lbs. It's definitely true that different brands fit differently, and it really depends on how your baby carries the weight. I have an AIO that I'm itching to use that's supposed to start at 12 lbs, but LO is 14 lbs and the leg openings are still too big for her.

Thanks for the feedback, ladies! I guess it just depends on fit and body type. It is encouraging to know that others had to wait a while to get a good fit. I wish the leaks were occasional enough to put up with but they have been fairly significant and happened in every diaper on the trial days. I will try again in a few weeks!

We used newborn cloth diapers from the beginning (6lbs 10 oz) and switched to one size cloth diapers around 8 weeks (took forever for that darn cord to fall off, which is what we were waiting on). The one size diapers didn't start fitting really well until my son was about 12 lbs. He also has/had relatively skinny thighs so until he filled out some more we just dealt with occasional leaks every day.

She was premie sized, so it wasn't really realistic to start until about 3-4 months.

We started before one month. Have you thought about overstuffing and/or using plastic pants?

Your lo will grow into them!

We started with one size diapers at 2 weeks. I was going to wait a month but she grew out of newborn diapers and I didn't want to buy more disposables. She is in the 95th percentile for weight, so skinny legs is one thing we never had to worry about.

I started at 2 months. I did have a bigger baby, she was born at 8lbs, little bigger than average. I used the size small ones.

I am curious about what has worked for others in terms of age and/or weight...LO is 8 weeks today and maybe close to 10 lbs but still in disposables. We tried newborn sized cloth at 4 weeks and last week but she leaked out the sides. It seems like her legs are too skinny still. She is just a long skinny baby overall. Anyone know when we might be able to use all the cloth dipes i bought? Thanks!
