I'm an only child and my parents separated when I was about 9. They lived together again once or twice but finally divorced when I was 13. Occasionally cats also. My husband's family had 5 and no pets. It's just the two of us right now. When I was born, there were 2 elderly (20+ years old!) cats and 2 elderly basset hounds, which all passed away before I was 5. Then we got an Airedale terrier, which we had until I was in high school, and got a second Airedale when I was around 13 which my parents had until he passed away two years ago. Also had various hamsters, mice, gold fish, etc. Oh yeah, we also had a chicken! We had a crazy amount of pets though - at one point we had a horse, a llama, 3 sheep, a dog, a cat, chickens, about 30 rabbits, a pet mouse... I don't even know what else. Ahem: Initially, just five of us (mom, dad, older brother, younger sister, and me). Parents got divorced when I was about 10. Mom remarried a couple years later and I gained three stepsisters and a stepbrother. Dad remarried shortly after that and eventually they tacked on two half-brothers.
