She hates it but knows if she just closes her eyes and her mouth and sits through it, it passes quickly. Or I'll make a game of it with the shower spray. Either way, the more she squirms the harder it is to quickly wash the soap so she's pretty good about sitting still now. Even before using that though, I just say "look up!" and dump water on his head. Both our other boys have issues (even at 8 & 11) with getting water in their face. I didn't want the same issues with L. So I made a point to not be super careful about it and not make a big deal about getting water in his eyes and stuff. He thinks it's hilarious now! We started at a really young age just dumping water over LO's head to wash the shampoo out of his hair, so he's used to it. We just warn him that it's coming...so I'll say, "Ready? One...two...three!" and dump on three. My mom has an absolute fit about it when she sees me do it, but he isn't phased at all. My nieces and nephew have a lot of issues getting water in their faces and I didn't want that to be the case with my LO. He often dunks his face in the water. We use Honest Company shampoo and it doesn't seem to bother him if I just dump water over his head to rinse. I actually dip DD backwards under the faucet and run the water to rinse her hair. Water goes in her face but she doesn't care. I used to use one of those bucket hair rinse thingies, but it was just the worst. I got hubby to change over the faucet on our bathtub to a new one with a diverter, and had installed a hand held shower head with a hose. Quite a change from before, when he was so sensitive to water! DD: My daughter really doesn't like it when water gets in her hair or ears though... so we have to be more careful with her.
