We have a niece (8) and nephew (11) that live in our town and we see them frequently, but the age difference may mean she is not close to them. Her other 4 cousins live an hour and a half away but she hasn't met any of them yet because of drama llamas. We see his McK cousins a few times a year, but the closest in age to him is still 6 years older, and the closest live 2 hour away. Hopefully that will be an easier age gap when they're adults. Of the four of them, one completely adores E, though. </p> <p>I don't think he'll be close to any on my side. I have two step-nieces that live pretty close, but the younger is 7 years older than him and the older 12 years. My brother and one of DH's brothers live across the continent, and DH's other brother lives in another country. Age-wise, my brother and DH's youngest brother are nowhere near the having-kids stage, but DH's middle brother and his wife were supposed to be due 3.5 months after us. Unfortunately, they lost the baby. I know they'll be trying again soon, so maybe our babies will be within a year or so of each other? My sister has 3 sons but they live two thousand miles away and we only see them once or twice a year. Plus two of them are several years older. I feel like she will be a little closer with my sister's children than my DH's brother's kids just because we have a closer relationship. But family is very important to us, and seeing our family is a top priority, so I think they will grow up to be friends. One of my best friends is my first cousin (we were a month apart.) We went to camp together, wrote letters, snuck long distance phone calls, were bridesmaids in each others weddings.
