Our old house was drafty with oil heat and with the thermostat set to 68 we still had to wear layers and bundle up. The house we live in now has a heat pump and 68 is perfectly comfortable. I usually crank it up to 69 or so before we go to sleep, then turn it off. This morning when I woke up it was 60, so I set it for 67. Yesterday it was 50 when I woke up! Brr.... But we just changed to our winter bedding, so we are nice and toasty. Year before we had thermostat set to 56. We don't have kids yet though, if we had a baby in the house I wouldn't keep it that low. I was so upset when I found out the gas company used an estimated usage amount rather than an actual reading when we had gone without using heat to save energy &amp; $$!
