@Foodnerd81: we have a bob stroller, and use their weather shield. It works very well. We use it with a bunting bag from ll bean

So relieved to hear these responses! I was worried about going stir crazy. We'll just bundle up and be smart about wind factors!

@Foodnerd81: We use this and it was the best money spent ever. I use it on my UB G-Luxe and BOB Revoltuion and it keeps the wind out so well that she's warm without even having to wear a snow suit in freezing temps.

@hilsy85: Hmm... maybe I'll try it this weekend. It's so convenient to put her in the car seat inside then just pop it into the stroller (2 flights of stairs between here and the garage). But she is getting heavy anyway.

@Foodnerd81: yup the ub rain shield for the toddler seat. She's probably old enough to start using it! Esp if you recline her at an angle and she's all layered up.

I hate to take her out if it's unnecessary if it's below 20, but sometimes it's just unavoidable...like this weekend!

@Silva: @Freckles: @hilsy85: What kind of weather cover do you have for the stroller? The rain shield one? We've been using the car seat in the stroller and I don't have a rain shield for it. She gets mad if she is awake and I put a blanket over the top because she can't see. Maybe I need to switch to the toddler seat since I have the rain cover for that.

I'm Canadian....it's almost never too cold! I put a fleece jacket on her in the car seat and then layer with blankets. I also put a warm hat and mittens on her. If we aren't going in the car, I put her in her snowsuit. Babies can handle cold climates just fine, so long as you dress them appropriately.

For me it is about the frost bite time. The other night it was 30 minutes to frost bite so we stayed home. It was maybe -5? But the windchill was -30 or -40...

I took DD out yesterday in about 19° weather, we were both bundled up, and I had her in the baby carrier facing me so she was getting my body warmth. We ran a few quick errands and she was fine.

We put in her in wool long johns, then fleece, and then zip her up in her down (fleece lined) stroller bunting bag, and then put the weather shield up on the Bob- and I'll take her out in anything I'm willing to go out in! We went for a run in 15 degrees this week! She stayed nice and cozy. The front pack keeps her super warm too, so I do wool + fleece and then the front pack.

When she was under 4 months I would have felt differently, but she is almost 8 months now and I figure as long as I dress her appropriately and protect her from the wind she's fine

The wool + fleece combo has been fantastic for us. I highly recommend investing in some a good wool layer if you live in a cold area. We only have one, but you don't have to wash it every time so its been great so far!

I take public transit to work/daycare, and it's a 10 minute walk to the station. It was -40 last week.

It's all about multi-layering, blankets and a great stroller cover.

Depends on the wind chill more than the cold. If it's not really windy, I would probably take him out in that temperature--I would just either wear him and bundle him up or keep him in the stroller with the weather cover over him and put on lots of layers.

Trying to figure this out too. I feel selfish taking her out for no reason but we've hardly left the house this week and I'm getting stir crazy. And this is just the beginning! I figure her body is plenty warm with a fleece snowsuit thing and the bundle me in the stroller but her face is still out there.

It depends on what I'm doing. For a walk around the neighborhood I don't go below 35ish because I don't want to go out in that. For an event or running errands I'll take her out in colder weather.

it mostly depends on how cold *i* am--ha! LO is 11 months right now so i figure if it's too cold for me to be walking outside, it's too cold for him since he's not even walking yet (at least i'm generating body heat from movement, he's not).

It's going to be VERY cold this weekend. Single digits. The highs will be 20 or so.

When do you decide it's too cold to take LO out?
