@Espion: Do you have a balaclava for him? Polarn O. Pyret makes a really nice wool one.

We love to be outside, cold or not. I feel that wearing appropriate clothing is the main thing. We will usually stay in only if it is really cold temperatures AND really strong wind. Other than that, we enjoy the outdoors all year. I think you'll be fine. :)

Definitely fine! Look at what parents in Norway do (and that cold makes 30 degrees look like a tropical beach): http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/magazine-21537988

i live in so cal and i would still take LO out at that temp (not that it ever gets that cold here!) as long as we were dressed appropriately like anyone else in that weather!

have fun! i did a turkey trot last year at 34 weeks pregnant! it was a turkey walk for me, but DH, my dad and i had a great time! i saw another pregnant lady there and i passed her! i felt like a rock star. :)

I took my 3 month old to an outdoor christmas thing in about 25 degrees of cold. We tried various combinations of wearing her under our jackets, holding her, etc. All of it made her too hot and just pissed her off. Eventually we just wore her in the moby, front facing, and let her be. She was much happier.

Only thing I'd worry about is wind, and if you're walking, no big deal. And you're probably not walking out in the desert - worst case is, what, you duck into a Starbucks and get a coffee?

I would go with a wind/rain cover. It makes a world of a difference!!

It's 0 where i am, and i walk with LO to the train station every day without any issues. Just layer them up and make sure they have blankets!

Totally fine! I would definitely go, but 2nd the idea of the rain cover to help block wind.

I agree with pps, as long as he's properly attired I'd go for it! We took E to a ski slope last year--a day after a blizzard had hit. He hung out with my ILs while the rest of us went tubing. It was <20, degrees and he was happy as a clam!

Our personal limit is 20 degrees for our walks. It has been -5 degrees here lately, so 30 degrees is warm! We really bundle E up and carry him in the Ergo, but I always worry about his face and nose. Anyone have a solution for this?

Lol - I've been taking my 2 month old out for long walks at that temp in the ergo. I just put her against me, with hat and mitts and booties and a light jacket on. Wrap a huge winter coat around me and her and she's good to go! If anything, I think she might be in danger of overheating. I'm pretty sure we can still go walking when it's -15C (5 F). I haven't tries the stroller yet, but my friend does. She puts her 8 mo in a snowsuit, hat, 2 big blankets and puts a wind guard over the stroller. Her daughter is always toasty warm!

I think as long as they are safely bundled up, it should be OK. I took my LO to Seoul last winter and even when it was super cold outside, I took her everywhere with me in the Ergo. I just made sure she was totally covered up and toasty. People still thought I was crazy and I had several older Korean ladies yell at me, but she was warm and fine! :)

In addition to a blanket or BundleMe.... If you have a rain cover for your stroller, it really helps with the cold air and wind. I would go too!

@MamaMoose: We'll be walking! But yeah, a blanket in case of wind is a good idea.

He was walking outside with me at a few weeks old in January last year. Our daycare takes the older ones out in anything above 0F!

I really dont like being cold or exposing LO to cold so I would stay home. I think an hour and half is a long time to be in 30 degree temps for a baby. ofcourse if you really want to, i suggest getting him thermal underwear

I think he'll be fine. But I would have a blanket you can hang over the front of the stroller if necessary. My only concern would be wind, especially since you'll be running.

We signed up for a Turkey Trot the morning of Thanksgiving. It's calling for a low of 30 degrees that morning, which I don't think is too bad. We had been planning bringing my 10 month old LO in the stroller with plenty of blankets and mittens, hat, coat, etc.

I know when it comes down to it MIL will be going, "I can just stay home with him! It's too cold!" I believe if the saying, "there is no such thing as bad weather, only bad clothing." If his cheeks are warm and he's not crying, I'm fine!

He'd probably be outside for an hour, hour and a half. What do you think?
