I don't feel like I can really make better picks on individual stocks than the experts that have access to much more research than I do. I also don't feel that I am able to diversify enough, to spread out my risk. I have mutual funds and some company stock and options plus my retirement accounts.

I do it and love it. I know next to nothing about finance but do read about the companies I like and have a finance lady who does it all for me.

Neither DH or I know anything really about stocks or investing in general. I would really like to understand it better, and my Dad has tried explaining things to me before but my brain just goes ......................... as soon as he starts talking - oops...

Neither of us know ANYTHING about stocks or investing. I feel like such a bumpkin sometimes because of it... really should get a financial advisor or something. Not that we have tons of money to invest. haha.

@jholler25: Yeah, I have company stock, too. I didn't know what to do with until one of my coworker mentioned that she's selling her shares because our stock is doing so well. That's when I realized that I should probably sell. I'm not comfortable with that stuff so I'm hoping to talk to a financial advisor about what I should do.

Like you, I think I would have just held on it it and wouldn't have done anything with it. Didn't realize I should monitor it to see if it goes up or down. I don't know... or at least I didn't know.

Our chihuahua knows more about stocks than me. I was actually given some company stock due to being one of the top salespeople in the country a few years ago...It's not that much but all I know about it is the value, which I guess is around $2500, and I see it when I log into my Fidelity account to look at 401K. I told DH I have it. And I guess I'll just keep it forever but I have no idea....

I'm not comfortable with it, but DH is a former financial advisor, in the banking industry now, and loves the stock market, so I leave it up to him. :)

Fairly comfortable, but I tend to buy into funds rather than single stocks (mostly ETFs). That way I can spread my risk and get exposure to an index or a commodity without having to purchase single securities myself. I don't have the time or inclination to get into stock picking right now so m happy with that strategy.

When I was in college, we had to do a commodities trading project...The goal was to complete 25 round turns (basically 25 transactions)...I made it three because I lost all my money. Whoops.

A few years ago I did open a brokerage account through my bank and bought stock in Sun Trust, Regions Bank and Olin Corp. My reasoning was that the bank stocks were undervalued (this was in 2008, I think...bad time for banks) and when times are bad, ammunition prices go up (There was also a rumor that Obama would reinstate the automatic weapons ban, which caused a run on AKs and bullets...).

I ended up tripling my money, which ain't bad, but I don't know that I'll try it again any time soon.

Are you comfortable with it?

Does your SO handle it? Or maybe a family or friend?
Or do you have an investment professional to help you out?

I'm not in the finance field or a gambler so I am not comfortable with it. I am currently looking for a good financial advisor.

What about you?
