@Emilia80: I honestly don't know the details, that's pretty much all the information I got from them and I didn't press for details since I know it can be a sensitive topic. Good luck to you though!

@lamariniere: what procedure did She have? Did they unblock it? I was told they csnt be unblocked. I asked my gyno why he didn't unblock my right tube which is the only blocked tube and he told me why but tbh I can't remember now. Need to have another talk with him. Surely they can be unblocked?

I don't know all the details, but my SIL had blocked tubes. They had been TTC for maybe 6 months when she got hers checked. She had a procedure done and got a BFP on the cycle after the procedure!

I'm not sure, but I went to an RE when I was having trouble conceiving my first, and she wanted to run that test. I think it's a pretty standard first line of testing. (It was a really good thing I had been charting and knew I had just ovulated within the 2 days before, even though my last period had been over 30 days before, because I ended up being pregnant with my first child, testing negative then, but testing positive at 8 DPO, 6 days later, and if I would have allowed them to run the test that day, my not yet implanted daughter would have been flushed right out of my body. Gives me chills.)

I had a laparoscopy last month which showed my right tube blocked at the end. This worries me and makes me think I cannot get pregnant bc of it !! Am hoping that the lap will boost my chances 3months post surgery.
I had very bad pelvic pain on my right side, which was from scar tissue from an appendix surgery. My gyno said that the surgery for the appendix would've caused the blocked tube, so angry!
I worry with stress all the time over this.

I don't remember the name of it. It was basically an HSG, but she already had me opened up because she was laprascopically looking at my fibroids to see if they were causing problems--they weren't. She was also looking for signs of endometriosis--I had none. So I was under general anasthesia and felt nothing. It still involved pushing dye. Fun fact: you pee green afterwards. Like Ecto Cooler.

I did have one previous miscarriage a year before (our only success in almost 2 years of trying), so maybe that contributed to the blockage, but my on had no real explanation other than it happens.

@zarzar: While I didn't have blocked tubes, I did have a large amount of scar tissue in my uterus from previous miscarriages and D&Cs from miscarriages. The scar tissue blocked the opening of my tubes.

You certainly don't have to have PID or an untreated STD to have blocked tubes.

@meesker: What was the procedure you had done? And was the doctor able to explain why your tube was blocked?

I had a blocked tube and have never had PID or any untreated STDs. My only symptom was infertility. I also got pregnant within 3 cycles of the procedure.

I don't know the stats, but I do think having had an HSG helped me get pregnant. I did learn I had a partial blockage on one side, & a possible adhesion on the other, keeping that tube pointing away from my ovary. I got pregnant on the 2nd cycle post HSG. Best of luck!! :goodluck:

I don't know the answer to this...but I do know that the odds of conceiving go up for the first 3 (or so) months following an HSG, even in women without blockages! :goodluck: An HSG can also give valuable information about the shape, location, and any structural abnormalities of your uterus (like a uterine septum).

I know some ladies here have had HSG done to test whether their tubes are open, it being one of the first tests for infertility. How common are blocked fallopian tubes? It sounds like you would have had to have PID or an untreated STD to have this, or is it possible to not have any symptoms at all and have blocked tubes?
