We will do the Tooth Fairy. LO loves loves loves fairies, so I can't deny her the fairy. Just last night she was pretend calling the Happy New Year Fairy (she made that up).

We don't celebrate Easter so we won't do the Easter Bunny. She usually just gets a basket from my mom and may go to church with her.

Not sure how to vote. I think we'll tell her about them, but not that they're real. She'll know it's us, but it will be a fun game.

I wasn't 100% on not doing Santa as real, but when I asked DH he said hell no, so we'll be doing the same for Santa. Fun idea, not real.

We will let DD lead the way with all of these including Santa. My plan is to say nothing unless she asks where the stuff came from. I'm not going to go out of my way to tell her about these characters or make her believe they're real. But I'm not going to necessarily straight up tell her they're fake unless she asks.

I am opposed to Santa Claus, but I really dislike the Easter Bunny and Tooth Fairy. OH and I have tentatively agreed to not bringing up either but if LO starts to believe, that's fine. If she flat asks is either is real the answer won't be a lie (it will probably be a re-direct). I wised up to both around 7 or 8 and it was annoying that my parents kept insisting I believe.

I don't think I've heard of ppl being against the tooth fairy, Santa or easter bunny bunny outside of HB

I'm kinda confused about the Bunny - I never knew what his role was, haha, and how he fit into everything. We did an Easter egg hunt but didn't mention the bunny just because we didn't really know what to say about him :P

Growing up, I was visited by the Tooth Fairy :). I remember leaving a letter and getting those big dollar coins. It was fun and I'll probably do the same.

We don't really do the Easter Bunny or baskets at this point and probably won't. We dye eggs, go egg hunting, and have special treats, though. If I did do a basket, it'd probably be from DH/I or grandparents.

DH didn't do Santa, bunny, fairy, etc growing up. He doesn't have strong feelings about it so I just take the lead :)

I didn't answer the pole, but LO knows that Daddy is the Easter Bunny for church. Last year she hung out with us while we got him in his costume. We gave her an Easter basket though.

For the Tooth Fairy, I want to give her books instead while she's sleeping, but we shall see. :)

@Anagram: yes, my parents did the easter bunny and tooth fairy, but i don't remember believing they really came to my house, more of an idea? like a character?

we'll do these things because it's all in fun. the easter bunny is definitely not the focus of easter for us though! it's just fun to give kiddos gifts and it's usually token things.

@Mrs. Turtle: yes! I have the best memories of playing along for my little brother and even for my parents lol. If anything, it added to the fun! And it made me appreciate how much my patents did to make it so fun! I'm also still very skeptical  I've always thought that because I'm such a 'realist' that's maybe why I yearn for a little magic!

My son believes in the Easter Bunny, I have no idea how he got this notion because I've never mentioned it. He just said that he can't wait until the Easter Bunny visits because he'll get a basket with presents.

I look at it like I do Santa, I didn't mention it, but this year, he asked for something specific from Santa. I figure that the time will come when he doesn't believe, but for now, I just follow his lead and let him decide what he believes and doesn't, versus me dictating it to him.

As for the Tooth Fairy, we're not there yet, but I suspect he'll hear about it in school when a peer looses a tooth and for that, I'll also follow his lead and go along with it.

I played along for my little brothers, though, and enjoyed the magic immensely even though I didn't really believe. We will be doing all three. To me, it was a highlight of childhood.

We don't do any of the make believe holiday characters. Easter is pretty easy because where I live, it's not a thing. Actually hearing my husband trying to explain the Easter bunny to his mom (they're both Mexican) was pretty hilarious and made me realize how crazy it is! I mean, we don't do Santa but at least he's, like, a person. LOL.

Who knows what we'll do. My husband is not american or christian, so all of these things are pretty foreign to him and he doesn't really "get" them, but would defer to me if I really wanted to do something. But....I don't really care myself as I didn't grow up with the Easter Bunny. Welll I mean, sometimes I had pictures with the Easter bunny, but I never thought he was REAL and came to my house. My mom did easter baskets and I always knew they were from her, and we opened them before going to Easter Sunrise services.

Last year, I hosted an Easter egg hunt for LO and her toddler friends--and it was hilarious because 90% of the attending families were Jewish and my husband is Hindu, so no one had ever done one before except me, haha.

I guess we do holidays :"lite". Like, some fun cultural stuff but with no big effort to make things seem "real" to the littles.

We're total atheists but we both love having fun with Santa and the Easter Bunny. And LO hasn't lost any teeth yet, but stories about the tooth fairy, and occasional treats from him/her, are what keep our toothbrushing routine going strong!

The internet seems full of people who have issues with these things, but I haven't met a single person in real life who objects so strongly.
