Thanks everyone for your responses....makes me feel better at ease of what's to come. Of course, I know that not everything will be easy, but at least it's good to hear some good experiences out there.

@chopsuey: I am still tandem nursing at 11 months although it looks like Little Boy is finally maybe weaning...he still gets super jealous sometimes...but never at the same time-we tried and it was an epic fail haha...

Mine are also 20 months apart and I had pretty much the exact same experience as @chopsuey. I will add that the most jealousy issues we've had are when I am nursing the baby.

Mine are 20 months apart and the first month or so was fine. DD didn't show any jealousy. After the 1 month mark something happened and she got super clingy and would cry bloody murder whenever she heard the baby crying (knew I would go get him).
Thankfully that stage of life didn't last long. Since then we've had good days and bad, but mostly good. She is super loving towards baby brother, but also smacks, pushes and takes things from him.

She loved having a baby sister right away and hasn't shown very much jealousy. She also became a lot more independent after the baby arrived. I think she realized that we wouldn't be able to give her all of our undivided attention.

DS was surprisingly 100% okay with his sister. He was 3 years, 1 month when she arrived. He had more of a problem with me being pregnant since I physically couldn't play with him as much as he wanted. As soon as he saw her, he asked, "so there isn't a baby in your tummy anymore?" And "can you run with me now?!"

There was no jealousy issue, he was gentle and quiet around her...mostly just fascinated and curious. It was a really smooth transition. We also cuddled with him more, he went to a movie with just dad, he had mom dates, where we would go to lunch and a toy store. He got more one-on-one time than when I was pregnant it's seemed. He had a gift for his sister in the hospital and he also had a firehouse that he helped his grandpa put together while we were busy in the hospital.

LO#2 is arriving at the end of March. My DS is 3 years old, and has only known life with Mommy and Daddy. He has never had to share his parents with another baby/child. I'm hoping that he'll welcome LO#2 with open arms and be gentle and nice, but I'm also preparing for possible jealousy issues.

I'm planning to give DS a gift from LO#2 when he visits in the hospital. Plus, I'll probably make some date outings with DS, too.

Any tips or experiences moms of 2 would like to share?
